Resumen del Editor

It isn't every day a movie star steals your husband. When that day comes for Chiffon Butrell of Cayboo Creek, South Carolina, she looks to the Bottom Dollar Girls to help her out of one fine mess.

With three kids to feed and Lonnie's paycheck from the Nutra-Sweet plant being forwarded to a California address, Chiffon is coming up more than a dollar short. There's just one thing to be done: call on her estranged older sister, Chenille. As crisis reigns, Chenille is welcomed by the Bottom Dollar Girls for her cool head and quick thinking. And when Chenille runs into a little trouble of her own, she begins to see the future in friendship.

A rollicking, hilarious novel about two sisters who are each one of a kind, A Dollar Short is a delicious page-turner worth every last cent.

"Never a dull moment....This fast-paced screamer of a romance begs a giggle, if not a guffaw." (Booklist)

Fun story of the folks in small town South Carolin

The ladies of Cayboo Creek, South Carolina are always there to support each other, often gathering in the Bottom Dollar Emporium to discuss life and everything happening in their small community. In book two, sisters, Chiffon and Chenille, are the center of interest. Never very close as children, and with a mom that was trying to raise beauty queens, they now find themselves thrown together by life's problems.

Chiffon's husband has gone to Hollywood on a prize that she actually won, but a sick baby kept her at home. Her sexy, handsome husband finds himself in the arms of a conniving Hollywood starlet, and he's not unhappy to be there. Added problems come because Chiffon has been left with no money but plenty of unpaid bills. Then she slips and sprains her ankle at her cafe job. Nothing to do but call upon her estranged sister to help with her children.

Conveniently, Chenille has just been fired from her teaching job because of the antics of her classroom helper. With everything in this small town being the source of gossip, and the media hounding Chiffon, it's up to the help of their friends for each of these women to take control of their lives and find true happiness.

I thoroughly enjoy these stories. The woman are all too human. The conversations and situations find truth in great humor and blunt common sense. The faults and foibles of small town life are wonderfully overrun by the loyalty, friendless, and community compassion found in difficult situations. Well written characters make me want to become friends with these ladies.

Fun

Just a fun silly book. I liked that it talked about certain things that so many women do and how this character dealt with it. Really liked it a lot.

Better then book 1

Couldn’t finish book one. This one had a few fun story lines with pleasant characters. I read, the next one someone has finally schooled the narrator on the correct pronunciation of Augusta. Hard to believe she really read TWO not knowing…sad

Please learn how names are pronounced

I like these these books well enough and delighted they're on the free list...but dang.. Augusta Georgia is not pronounced AUG-us-ta.....and there were several other towns mispronounced. A little thing but it bugs me every time I hear it ...but I like the stories and the female growth and support a lot....

Augusta, GA is pronounced like "uh GUS ta"

As a southerner it's hard to hear the mispronunciation of the city but I like the story and there are many laugh out load lines.

AUgusta?

If you are going to narrate a story about South Carolina, please learn how to pronounce Augusta, not to mention Crepe Myrtle.

Good book just a couple issues.

I’m from south ga Augusta is pronounced wrong drives me crazy 😂😂😂.
It “a Gus- ta”. And most Mary Kay consultants that I know don’t have the attitude like the mom Wanda does. She should have been more positive toward her daughters.

Over all the story is good kinda scattered between so many characters. The narrator was really good except the above pronunciations.

I would recommend this series for a light southern story about friends.
