Emelia Wells has always lived a quiet life in the village of Stathford, expected to focus on social events and proper manners. Yet, she struggles with the life planned for her and longs for something more meaningful. When her best friend Brody Shaw asks her to find a wife for his brother, Emelia agrees, never expecting that this task will change her life completely…
Montgomery Shaw works as a dedicated doctor in London, burying himself in work to escape his father’s loss and the heavy expectations of his family. However, when illness forces him home, he finds himself dependent on the care of a familiar woman… one who challenges everything he thought about love and loneliness.
As Emelia nurses Montgomery back to health, their bond deepens beyond friendship, yet both wrestle with unspoken feelings and the fear of losing what they hold dear. Will Emelia’s care be enough to heal Montgomery’s guarded heart, or will his fear of loss and the weight of family duty tear them apart forever?
"A Doctor's Unintended Lady" is a historical romance novel of approximately 80,000 words. No cheating, no cliffhangers, and a guaranteed happily ever after.
Tropes: Wounded Hero – Caretaker Heroine, The Unconventional Heroine
What a sweet story of two families with children who have cared and love each other as friends since birth until the great change…. growing up and discovering love.
I enjoy how Author Bridget Barton developed this storyline of childhood brothers Brody and Dr. Montgomery Shaw and sisters Emelia and Hannah Wells who all discover love and purpose. She added the right amount of tension and feelings to this story to make it not a plain read. You could feel their pains as each of them grow to be a better person, discovering more about themselves and what they want for their lives while finding the strength to express it.
This is an enjoyable read. I give it 4 STARS.
Virtual Voice Narration
I was curious about how good Virtual Voice Narration could be to Real Narrators, so I bought it to compare. It is not even close to having real narrators, but it is sufficient for the money conscious reader. For me there isn’t enough distinction between characters especially male, female and ages. Also, the voices aren’t expressive, more mechanical.
Book was great Virtual Narrator so-so
