Resumen del Editor

Olivia Markham is a socialite from New York City who came to Topeka with one goal - to marry Adam Brody. But Adam has married someone else, and Olivia has nowhere to go. Taking a job at the Brody Hotel requires her to swallow her pride, but she has no choice in the matter. Now she must learn to adjust to simple living and wearing cotton dresses - cotton, when she should be wearing silk.

Pastor Robert Osbourne has taken on the huge responsibility of overseeing the spiritual welfare of a large congregation, and at times, he feels overwhelmed. He preaches on Sunday morning, but by Monday night, everything he’s said has been diluted by the alcohol at the saloons. He wonders if he’s doing any good for the people at all.

Olivia doesn’t see a need for God in her life. Robert can’t imagine living without Him. Drawn together for reasons neither can understand, can they find a way to overlook their differences and realize that love doesn’t have to make sense to be real?

Sweet Story

WHAT IT'S ABOUT

MY TAKE
This was an endearing story. Both characters grow as they make this journey. Olivia's temperament is all over the map. One minute she's grumpy and complaining. Then another minute she agrees to do something she'd just said she had no intention of doing.

There's one scene where Robert loses him temper that made me not respect him. One of his parishioners had essentially been calling Olivia a prostitute, and he was all placid and patient in trying to explain that it's not a Christian thing to judge people. Yet when Olivia was hurt and offended by that he chucks her in the pond, even after she talked about the sacrifices she and her friends had made to sew that dress. I wish this scene had been written in Robert's POV so we could have seen what it was that Olivia said that triggered such behavior in him. When he apologized to her later, he didn't go into specifics.

The narrator did an okay job.

Wonderful!

A Clean Slate is a sweet and clean romance. It is well written and takes the reader on a journey with lighthearted moments, tender and moving times, and characters discovering so much about themselves. It’s the kind of book that makes you stop and examine your own path. The narration is pleasant and enhanced the listening experience.

Cute sweet story

This was a nice listen. It was a cute story, well- written so that you can imaging yourself back then. The performance was good except it needs a little more editing- 3 places closer to the end, I heard the same thing repeated. Thanks!

Love this author

I have almost all of her books and have enjoyed them all. I do prefer to read them, but use audio on trips.

Cute and clean

This book was cute. It held my interest and had a lot of funny moments in it as well as a lot of deep subjects. It was shorter than some books but didn’t feel overly rushed. The narrator did a great job with it too.

A Clean Slate

Wonderful story of opposites attracting. Life at the Brody is never dull. The trials, woes, romances and comedic relief are always entertaining. Throw in a preacher, a pretty girl in a new dress and a pond at a picnic and you have a delightful listen.

Another delightful story by Amelia Adams

I really enjoy the entire Kansas Crossroads series, but I think book 4, A Clean Slate, is my favorite. I love Amelia Adams’s sense of humor, and this book had me laughing out loud. I also enjoyed the inspirational storyline. This is just a wonderful story! I hated for it to end. It’s a good thing there are 14 books in this series! Highly recommend!

great addition to the series

I have listened to a few books in this series and I'm enjoying this series. Olivia is a 'fish out of water '. Slowly, she begins to realize that everything she thought she wanted is not what she needs. I recommend this book.
