A surprise meeting

A baby alone in the woods

And a second chance at love.

Fitzwilliam Darcy returns to his beloved Pemberley with one thing on his mind — to forget Elizabeth Bennet. Riding ahead of his party and racing a storm, he happens upon the very woman he wants to avoid. To his astonishment, she is holding a baby whose name and parentage are unknown.

Elizabeth Bennet never dreamed she had wandered into Pemberley’s woods on her afternoon walk. But when she finds an infant alone in the storm, she turns to the last man in the world she wants to see — and the only one who can help them both.

As the mystery of the baby’s identity intensifies, Elizabeth finds Mr. Darcy to be quite different from what she expected. But when the child’s family is discovered, will the truth bring them together or tear them apart?

I enjoyed this story very much, an unusual plot and a lot of great Darcy and Elizabeth interactions. Beautiful moments of Darcy and a baby and Elizabeth learning about his true character by observing him. I love stories based mostly at Pemberley and this one is one of my favorite. I hated that Wickham got away with his crimes again and I kind of missed a closure on a couple of threads.

The narrator was new to me but very satisfying, I especially enjoyed tender moments with the baby and between D&E.
Highly recommend.

Great story

The story is well written and narrated competently but if I had known how alike this story was to the original I wouldn’t have purchased it. With the exception of even more evil Wickham doings, it’s pretty much the same. There is no moral or ethical justification for the constant enabling of such a monster as Wickham. Darcy making himself a doormat and ATM for him seems unethical for such a moral guy. Elizabeth is shallow and often at a loss for words even when it is not kind. It doesn’t seem like the girl we know. She’s not especially likable in this story as is sadly often the case in JAFF. I prefer the totally reimagined versions. Especially ones that have limited Wickham, Lydia and Mrs. Bennet. It seems that covering up evil deeds is more important than doing the right thing in this convoluted society. The narrator gives an ominous manner of delivery, it was depressing to listen to. Not a re-listen ~at least for me. YMMV.

Nearly the same as original

Needed an epilogue. And perhaps more time after the wedding showing Darcy, Lizzy, Georgina and Daisy together.

Sweet story. Good narrator.

I liked the narrator very much. the book showed more too the complications of who Darcy was.

An enjoyable listen.
Especially liked how Darcy was written .
A technical issue with 2 chapters , out of order , messed up the flow of the story for me.
Again, a sweet enjoyable listen.

This story finds Darcy on his way home, after Hundsford, in the rain when he comes across Lizzy with a bundle in her arms.

That is the extent of the spoiler I will give you, but the story that unfolds from there is one of two people hoping the other will forgive them and learning to hope for more than just forgiveness.

The narrator took just a little to get used to as she ends words with a hard ending. The Ts are so hard at times it sounds like she is spitting. Otherwise, the voice characterizations are appropriate

Great story

I really enjoyed this story. Darcy finds Elizabeth in the Pemberley woods with a baby in her arms. There is a storm coming. At first Darcy believes that the baby is Elizabeth’s. Twists and turns and there is a HEA for ODC.

Very cute story

A very good “second chances” Pride and Prejudice variation novella for Elizabeth and Darcy which begins with a chance encounter months after Darcy’s refused proposal. A sweet, well-written tale, with an excellent narration by Emily Wylie. Recommend

Loved it!

This one has a marvelous premise, and the plot, though predictable, is romantic and sweet. The narration is fine enough, as well. Honestly, however, I grew weary of listening about halfway through. The language is repetitive. The conflict (manufactured and gratuitous juvenile misunderstandings/insecurity) is ridiculous and tedious and unrealistic for anyone over the age of 15.

And that's sad because the story is a really decent one. It's an "insert a baby" variation, and those are occasionally done very well. Adding a child to break the ice between Elizabeth and Darcy has interesting avenues that can be explored, and this one tried to do that. It just...didn't succeed.

If you like watching the two of them wring their hands and needlessly fret over and over, saying all the right things but never convincing the other, then go ahead. /smile. I don't like to be harsh, but this one is a skip for me.

Repetitive and Sophomoric

Listen to Pride and Prejudice instead. Somehow I was encouraged by audible to waste a credit on a book - seeming 90% borrowed from Jane Austen’s famous novel with only one unnecessary and irrelevant side story. Don’t waste your time or credit.
