Resumen del Editor

The Communist Manifesto of 1848 - the blueprint for modern totalitarian government - promises utopia but delivers dictatorship, poverty and misery everywhere it's tried. Yet many of the tenets of this ideology endure among leftist thinkers, despite repeated and universal failure. The question is why?

In A Capitalist Manifesto, Gary Wolfram answers that question with a clear explanation of the only economic system compatible with individual liberty, social justice and freedom: Capitalism. From barter to free markets, Wolfram explains the nature of money, the creation of wealth and the brilliance of a system based not on the state but rather on millions of unique individuals deciding what is best.

A little all over the place but useful and informative

The topics covered were a little bit disjointed and the depth varied, but the writer provided a solid foundation for understanding capitalist economies and why messing with them too much is not a good idea for anyone. It makes a good case for the folly of competing systems without telling you that directly but by showing you the mechanisms necessary for a functioning economy.

On its own, the book has its limits and should be read as an addendum to much of Hayek, Meises and Friedman, because it makes some assumptions at times where one most go to those authors to show the work as to why whose assumptions or conclusions are correct, but overall a very useful read which I recommend.

Required Reading

This book should be required reading for every American who cares about economics. In an easily understood way, the author lays out how the market works to bring supply and demand into equilibrium. It's straightforward presentation of both micro and macro economics shows there is no such thing as a free lunch - every government intervention has consequences which are often different. from those intended by the politicians who promoted them.

An absolute must!

The knowledge contained is easy to follow along with and understand. I read the book while listening to the recording to really let it all sink in.

Highly Recommend

After reading the Communist Manifesto and Mao's Red Book this is a breath of fresh air. No economic theory, just reality. I thought it would be more about what capitists believe but I love that it's basically an economics book. Learned so much! Excellent.

Concise

I truly enjoyed this book. While it doesn’t cover everything, it definitely gave a framework that can help expand one’s curiosity on the topic. Highly recommend and should be recommended for high school students.

A wonderful review of the basics of economic liberty

It was well worth my time to review and more deeply understand the fundamentals that make liberty both pragmatically and idealistically preferable to government intervention and suppression of liberty
