Resumen del Editor

A Wall Street Journal and National Best Seller!

The man who predicted the worst economic crisis in US history shows you how to survive it.

The current crisis is not like 2008 or even 1929. The New Depression that has emerged from the COVID pandemic is the worst economic crisis in US history. Most fired employees will remain redundant. Bankruptcies will be common, and banks will buckle under the weight of bad debts. Deflation, debt, and demography will wreck any chance of recovery, and social disorder will follow closely on the heels of market chaos. The happy talk from Wall Street and the White House is an illusion. The worst is yet to come.

But for knowledgeable investors, all hope is not lost.

In The New Great Depression, James Rickards, New York Times best-selling author of Aftermath and The New Case for Gold, pulls back the curtain to reveal the true risks to our financial system and what savvy investors can do to survive - even prosper - during a time of unrivaled turbulence. Drawing on historical case studies, monetary theory, and behind-the-scenes access to the halls of power, Rickards shines a clarifying light on the events taking place, so investors understand what's really happening and what they can do about it.

A must-listen for any fans of Rickards and for investors everywhere who want to understand how to preserve their wealth during the worst economic crisis in US history.

Reseñas de la Crítica

“Rickards...makes the important point that depressions are as much psychological as numeric.... Intriguing policy recommendation...sound advice to investors on how to structure a portfolio to deal with both the threat of deflation and inflation...a bracing collection of salvos...with many genuine insights, which make it an enjoyable book to argue with. Let’s just hope that the next 30 years are less bleak than Mr Rickards expects.” (The Financial Times)

I was excited to get this audio book to get insight on if there will be a second, and potentially worse recession, in the aftermath of COVID, unprecedented money printing, and social unrest.

I was so disappointed with the content of this book I wanted to stop reading and give it one star. Almost the whole book is about COVID and the events that played out thus far. Which would be great if I had just arrived from a different planet or another time period, but so redundant and unnecessary having just lived it.

With that said the last hour of the book is great. The author gives his prediction on what will happen next and how to diversify your assets to prepare. I listened to the last few chapters twice. I still don’t 100% agree with all of the author’s views, but it was definitely worth the read.

Same same ...

This will be a revelation if you haven’t read his other books - otherwise - diversify your assets beyond stocks and put your seat belt on. Oh and Covid. Not a lot of news here - this is a magazine article with the Rickards flare , some regurgitations from the previous same same and some state depart-minty talking points. Which is excellent for anyone who wants a little inside peep and can read good. Yes, There is a recipe for how to allocate your kids inheritance till you kick it - in the last couple chapters somewhere - don’t worry it won’t take long. Not to bag on Jim too hard - but you could watch his much more enjoyable interviews on kitco and drop in the same bucket

- I’d say a solid 4 hours
Of tolerable background narration for a flight to empty you safe deposit box.

Another great read from James Rickards

If you read some of his other books, you have a general idea of his take on things. However, given how much our world has changed in the last year, his insight is into the times is very educational, and his recommendations actionable.

Good truth, a bit off on forecast timing

This book provides good analysis of pandemic response and many predictions. Timing is always tricky, but so far hasn’t played out with interest rates, particularly longer-term, rising from the pandemic lows. I personally think Mr Rickards will be more right than wrong, but timeline will be pushed out a year or two. He’s right about the debt overhang and Fed ineptitude in creating the inflation it so desperately desires. I think this is worth the listen and it’s a quick one at that.

I’ve listened to one of his other audiobooks and he seems a little rushed and subdued in his performance here...thus the 3 stars.

A great book to help you make sense of today's economics collapse in the age of a worldwide pandemic and how to proceed from here.

the content is solid, how ever, at times it was hard following the Naration by Richards. his style is dry and tends to bore the listener
