Serena Bailey is sold by her stepfather to a man in Texas to pay off a debt. Hating him for it, Serena is nevertheless forced to go to El Paso, Texas. Nartan is the Apache chief’s son, looking to marry. None of the village maidens attract him, but when he finds a young woman with hair of fire hiding in the bushes, Nartan knows his fate and takes Serena back to his village. Safe with the Apache, Serena lives among them and learns their ways and their language.
Hubert Bishop refuses to let Serena escape. He schemes to steal her out of the Apache village. When Serena risks her life to save a young Apache boy, she is adopted into the tribe, and she and Nartan plan to marry. But Hubert arrives to destroy her chance at happiness.
