Excellent format for learning

I found this system to be a very good method for increasing vocabulary and understanding of the language as well as pronunciation. Highly recommend

Great ebook to learn Portuguese

This ebook is a great resource for autodidacts and that could also serve for a class. Definitely recommend it to others that wants to improve their portuguese.

Random Portuguese Overload

This audio is decent for reviewing 2000 words in Portuguese.

Here are my observations for improvement.

1) I think that the terms should be in some sort of order such as numbers, days of the week, professions, feelings, colors, pronouns, foods, places, etc. The whole random approach will have your mind all over the place.

2) The audiobook technically consists of tens or scores of thousands of words because the narrator will first mention the specific term in the Portuguese, then English, then a whole sentence in Portuguese and then a whole sentence in English. It’s the sentence in Portuguese including the key term that can overload one’s brain.

3) It would be nice if the audiobook had some sort of visual transcription. The software exists, just not yet for Audible.com yet.

Is it worth the money, tough to say for the first time? Maybe when I’m more fluent in Portuguese, I may change my mind.

A Quick scan through the Portuguese vocabulary.

While there are way more than 2000 words in the Portuguese vocabulary, the 2000 words presented in this book are some of the most common ones. In essence, learning the words and their proper usage gives a quick boost for getting to a conversational level in Portuguese. It is not a quick study and may require playing at reduced speed. Overall, this book has a good approach and narration. Also, the accompanying pdf file is a great resource for cross checking things.

Accelerated learning 2000 extra words

I personally applaud Lingo Mastery's approach to improving language skills via vocabulary expansion. As common with other books in this category (from the same publisher), this book provides 2000 common and important Portuguese words. While some listeners might attempt to listen at a stretch and then hope their vocabulary would have increased, this book should be followed methodically. I think the intention of this book is to allow the listener get familiar with these 2000 common words. Through consistent practice and understanding of the words, the listener is expected to rapidly advance in their comprehension of Portuguese as a language.

good vocab in context

Not a story or grammar book, just vocab in context. Just what I needed to improve my Portuguese listening comprehension. I practiced by trying to translate each sentence in my head before it gave the English translation.

Great stuff!

I study Spanish and Portuguese. For me, Spanish is slightly easier to learn than Portuguese. I plan on becoming fluent in both Spanish and Portuguese. I know that learning one will help me in learning the other. I love the sound of Portuguese, so the unique sounds are not a deterrent.
I highly recommend buying this audiobook. The parallel translation really works.

Must be accompanied by the book

This was my second Portuguese learning audiobook.
The pace was fast and you would have to come back often to keep track. Overall, it's a good book, but you have to be really focused to really get though it.
It's much easier if you follow with the book that comes with it.

I found it helpful. 20 hrs of listening.

I listened to the list while doing other activities. I liked that you are given the word in Portuguese and then English and most beneficial the word is used in a full and complex sentence which is spoken twice. Finally you get the full translation in English. A pdf file is included and you can read along or check words.
