Lara Mehta has spent most of her days trying to avoid her family and the same question that they always ask; when will she get married? Despite being successful and having a great job in a pharmaceutical lab, it's not enough for them. They feel it's prime time for her to move on and settle in with a husband. Lara avoids this as much as possible until one night when a thief breaks into her workplace. The moment she sees him, she cooks up the perfect plan. If she can convince her family that this man is her fiancé, then that means no more questions or badgering.

Sebastian Castillo is smart, handsome, and struggling to survive out in the world. He makes a bad decision when he breaks into a lab and is caught suddenly. However, he is saved by Lara and she makes a deal with him. All she asks is that he pretend to be her fiancé for short amount of time. If he can do that much, she won't tell anyone about his true profession. She also plans to teach him how to be the perfect gentleman for her family. He agrees to this and figures that they will not fall in love. After all, she is well off and he is not. There is no way they could ever be attracted to each other.

At least, that's what they both think...fate just has another plan for them.

Lara, the female lead, is busy working in a pharmaceutical lab to find a husband and settle

down.

Sebastian, the male lead, is not as focused and settled as Lara.

Desperate times causes Sebastian to make a mistake and he is caught by Lara.

There is an immediate attraction or at least Lara on Lara's side.

She makes Sebastian an offer that he can not refuse and so begins an odd relationship that

eventually develops into of something more..

This story line was entertaining until the very end of the book, making it a Good Weekend

Read.

I like that this author writes in several genres.

Coulter Evans did well with the narration.

Taming the Thief, where do I start? It was a fun story. The premise is Laura is a scientist who saves a gorgeous guy when he attempts to steal a formula from the company she works for. She does this to show her family she has a man to get them off her back and because he’s everything they’d hate. For a woman with that much formal education it doesn’t really make sense. Anyways, they form a close relationship and his reasoning behind thieving is to help take care of his brother who was his sister. He recently had a sex change and is now a man. Their parents didn’t approve. Along with that the younger sister left the parents’ home too. Let me mention the thief has a masters in engineering. My question is why doesn’t he cut his hair and get a real job? Damn he has the education. It would have made more sense if he was arrested in college and nobody would have hired him because of a felony.
What I enjoyed was the creative, out of the box thinking. What I didn’t enjoy was the repetition and plot holes. The reasoning behind his motives was spelled out in every chapter. As a reader/listener I don’t need that. Once is enough. I prefer a story to move forward from there. This story stalled then progressed at a slow speed which is OK, depending on the listener. For me I have a short attention span and get plots very quickly and need to see progress or I’m bored. This story, although, a wonderful enticing premise stalled too long and my attention diverted.
The narrator Coulter Evans did a great job but I didn’t think a male was appropriate for the job. In this story I think a female voice would be a better choice. However, he did a great job!
It’s a cute story that in my opinion needs a little plot work but entertaining.

Cute story.

Taming the Thief is a romantic story about finding love in the most unexpected places. For Lara, love was just not in the cards for her. She was just too busy with work and her career in a pharmaceutical lab. Her family wanted to see her get married. Lara wanted to make her family happy but at the same time didn’t feel that finding true love would happen for her - at least not at that point in her life. That was until the handsome Sebastian walked into her life. He was not like most men that she had met. He was not only handsome, but he intrigued her. There was something about him that she liked. Lara felt an immediate attraction to him despite barely knowing him. The only bad thing facing this situation was how she actually met him. She met Sebastian while he was trying to break into the pharmaceutical lab where she worked at. Against her better judgment, Lara decided to not turn him in if he agreed to pretend to be her fiancé to her family. Reluctantly, he agreed and things seem to change for them both. Despite many bumps along the way, Lara and Sebastian learned a lot about each other and a lot about love. Perhaps there was a potential romance and happy ending to Lara’s story. But of course, Lara had to tame the thief first.

I liked this story because it was romantic and entertaining. The story-line was fun even though is was a bit far fetched.

I almost stopped listening because of the narration. I have listened to Coulter Evans before in a different style book and he did a good job. However, his voice did not suit this story AT ALL.

I was given this book in return for my honest unbiased opinion. I liked the book, the story but I didn't really like the narration so unfortunately I didn't finish the book. It didn't really flow for me because of the narration.

I liked it.

Sometimes something just resonates with some and not others. This was, for me, way too unbelievable. I get that fiction, romance and fantasy are not reality, but you have to remain within the realm of, "yeah, I guess that could happen," and this just didn't. At Ch 5, I realized I didn't remember the names of the main characters and didn't care about them even a little. Sorry, I very rarely have a DNF, but I just can't get into it. I really liked the description and the premise of the book, but somewhere in the execution, it was my interest in the story that got killed.

Coulter Evans has a great voice. However, I think this particular book is just a bad fit for him. I can hear him narrating true crime and being a total rock star in that genre.

I received this audiobook in exchange for an unbiased review.
