Resumen del Editor

Lily Munroe thought she had married an honest, dependable man, but she was painfully mistaken. It didn’t take long for her once-loving husband to become a secretive stranger-mixing with shady people and even shadier dealings. Although Lily nursed him through a sudden terminal illness, her marriage was over long before he passed away. During that difficult time, only her passion for the exhilarating Iditarod race across Alaska gave her something to look forward to-and she channeled her emotions into training dogs for the grueling event. Now single again, she’s more determined than ever to win the race, awaken her sense of self, and leave her past behind. In the competition, the person to beat is two-time winner Derek Wright, a man Lily dubs Mr. Wrong.

Extremely sexy and devilishly charming, Derek is the consummate playboy. Or is he? Although Lily can’t deny her intense attraction, she believes he is dangerous to her scarred heart. Little does she know that Derek is an elite antiterrorism agent-or how desperately she’ll need to depend on his skills to keep her alive once the race is under way.

I like Cherry Adair's books.

I wish all her books were on audible. I prefer a female narrator. The t-flac series are all pretty good.

Great narration and engaging story!

One of the best ‘romance’ novels I’ve purchased in audible! Lots of action, great narration... now I want to read the rest of the books in the series!

another good book

I love this series. This one is I think is book 4 or 5. I hope Audible has plans to include the earlier books in this series. Kiss and Tell was book 1 (hint, hint)😁.

Annoying heroine

Review for On Thin Ice

This is the first Cherry Adair book I’ve read but I just couldn’t get into it. I’m not sure I will read another. I like the Iditarod aspect although I’m not sure how authentic the descriptions are. There’s too much on the heroine cogitating the same “he will leave me like everyone else” filler stuff going on and expecting everyone else to deal with her insecurities. The main characters have known each other for 6 years at the start of the plot. They had 3 hot dates back then, and the dates were so hot that the virgin heroine ran straight into the arms of the hero’s best friend. The best friend turned out to be a philanderer, liar, and crook who conveniently died but not for 3 years. The hero has been hung up on the nitwit heroine for 6 years (celibate too) and 6 months after the death of the dirtbag husband starts to pursue the heroine full on. Except the heroine is still hung up on practically everything under the sun (daddy issues, abandonment issues, trust issues, self esteem issues, fear of flying). There’s some bad guys running around but it’s all very bland. In the end I just wish the H will walk away.

Now for some inconsistencies in the time line. First, the 6 yrs don’t add up: from the writing it sounds like the heroine married the dirtbag soon after she ran from the hero. She stayed with the dirtbag for 3 yrs while he died a slow whiny death. The story starts 6 months after his death. What happened to the missing 2.5 yrs? Second, the heroine is supposed to be a vet. She’s 27. Educational requirements for a DVM is the same as that for a MD : 8 yrs. Assuming the heroine started college at 18, she would have been 25/26 when she finished vet school, meaning she would have been in school the majority of time she was married to the dirtbag. There’s no mention of that, in fact, the author makes it out as if she was working as a vet the entire time. I hate it when authors don’t check their basic facts. Another thing that bothers me no end. The so called heroine was in a plane crash that killed her mother when she was 8. Since then she has avoided flying for 19 years. Any sane person or, for that matter, her remaining parent, would have made her see a shrink to manage her fears. How can you live in the modern world with that kind of fear? It’s not like she’s going on 90 and on her last legs. All I can say is that this author is not a thoughtful writer. Otherwise there won’t be these timeline inconsistencies and ridiculous traits she endows her characters with, just to add some filler pages. Finally, the author described hero’s pupils as fixed and dilated. That’s the symptom of brain trauma, not unconsciousness from blood loss, which is what the hero suffered from. Another error.

Jack Garrett is a competent reader but the delivery is bland and emphasizes the overall blandness of the relationship between the main characters.
