I was interested because it was supposed to be a love story between a doctor and a manager of a foster care facility. Turns out that the "love" was very sex driven and while Rene was falling so hard that she was wishing pregnancy on herself, Martin was moving on as a traveling doctor. I got to hear the narrator whine out Rene's dialogue throughout the book to the point to where she sounded like Eeyore from Winnie the Pooh. It is only when the good doctor contracts a virus while working in Haiti he returns his half-dead butt back to Rene and gives her what she wants.
