Justin White may not look like an up-and-coming corporate superstar, but his new boss knows that he has the smarts, grit, and determination to succeed. This book was really good until about halfway through. I felt like it just kinda fell flat after that. Still a good read/listen though. Anything Iggy Toma reads is good, he can turn a meh story into an enjoyable one!

The characters is coming alive and I can feel the love, anger, despair and sadness. Justin is a sweet guy afraid of not getting to be himself. Eli is one tormented soul. They find love together. And the voice Iggy Toma is oh so good. The only thing missing for me is that Justin should have got a closure to his paste. But I do recommend this book.

I loved this book. so much so, that I listen to it almost every week. Its just so special. Eli and Justin are so great. We also get to see more of Sam and Michael!

Narrator is also awesome!

Eli & Justin both have issues. Their issues blend well, though, and they find each other after a long, mutual tease which is fun to watch. They’re a good match.

While Eli dealt with a history of trying not to think he’s a monster for enjoying bringing pain, that is thankfully not a big issue as he’s mostly dealt with self doubts before the book timeline starts. The book is very scene friendly while acknowledging how it can go awry. In this story the author has excellently modeled consent and cooperation. Interesting to me is how little Justin’s actual pain gets page time. We see more about the effect of it than the pain itself, which might be a relief to know for readers who aren’t into a pain kink yet still be relatable to those who are.

My only quibbles: Eli borders on being a jerk at work & Justin acting/being unredeemably broke even after he starts getting a comfortable salary & not spending time with or checking in with friends outside Eli’s circle much. I did like that friends kept checking in on them whether they were in a good or bad space.

The pacing of the romance worked well for me. Knowing from early on what motivated each to move forward or hold back was good for that. The resolution of the story was satisfying. Recommended.

Just business was a funny, sexual, laugh out loud at times, page turner. I read this in one day, I couldn't put it down. I can't wait to read more from this author. Definitely a good read but it is quite explicit sexually. Enjoy

Okay first, just a minor criticism: for me, some of Justin's reactions to things came across as slightly melodramatic and unbelievable, especially toward the darkest moment of the book when him and Eli are dealing with their major lack of communication. He strikes me as singularly lacking in self-awareness and kind of dumb during that time, but I guess we all have our blind spots, so it can be argued that it was natural to his character and past traumas to so blindly blame Eli and label him with characteristics that he so obviously had never displayed; I guess it was part of his mental self-protection mechanisms.

As to the rest of the book: Eli's character seems spot-on to me throughout, and all of his actions and thoughts extend logically from his past. Both characters are very likeable and sympathetic in my opinion, and I really enjoy the feel of the writing and world portrayed.

Iggy Toma, as usual, did an excellent job narrating. If you like his voice then you'll like the narration for this.

I got this book through the romance package, otherwise I might not have found out about this author, and I was super impressed. This book was a quite enjoyable read! I loved the hurt/comfort themes, the sexy BDSM, and that they had tender sex as well as rough. Eli is a dom I can appreciate, which is always fun.

I thought that the MC's past traumas were handled well. We didn't have to wallow in dark pits of overly detailed misery for long swaths of the book. Instead, they were described in just enough detail that we knew the facts of what happened and why the MCs have the issues they have now.

This is the first book I've listened to in the series, since I didn't realize it's a series, so I'm going to find the others to listen to now.
