Trapped in the wilderness of Norway, he became both my protector and predator.

When I set off to the remote wilderness of Norway for my atmospheric research, I envisioned rain drenched landscapes and fierce weather patterns, not the brooding and dangerously attractive hunter, Aksel.

Initially, I admired his rugged intensity, but I soon uncovered the darkness lurking beneath his captivating blue-gray eyes. Trapped in his isolated cabin in a foreign land, I'm forced to navigate not only the unforgiving elements but also Aksel's possessive and primal desires.

As days blur into nights marked by raw passion and startling revelations, I find myself caught in a tumultuous struggle between fear and an undeniable yearning for the man who has claimed me.

With my professional dreams clashing against Aksel’s animalistic need to protect and possess, I must decide whether to embrace the wild freedom he offers or to find a way back to the life I once knew.

In a place where love and danger intertwine, can I survive Aksel’s savage past and emerge unscathed, or will I become his willing prey?

Hunted is a 47k word dark romance with heavy subjects that some listeners may find triggering. A full list of the warnings will be found in the book. This story has no cliffhanger, no cheating and ends with a HEA.

Sweeter than some of her other books. Still dark but less on page twisted interactions. Normally if I read a review like this I might skip the book. Don’t skip this one! It’s absolutely worth your time, worth a credit. The sex scenes are more primal than kinky. I did really enjoy the story , wish it had been longer. I’m sure this will be one I return to listen to again and again.

Sweeter than expected

Good story,.. finally not a trillionaire blah blah.. both performance were excellent but the depth of male voice is insane! Not sure about others but listened to few voices that ruined a good story… this is not one of them! Lol ❤️ enjoyed this a lot. Will def listen to him more!

Sometimes the difference between reading something to myself and hearing someone read it to me makes all the difference in the world. These two voices worked so well together. Really love the sound Corvins voice brings the story to life

Characters, Setting & Plot Overview

Hunted centers on Zara, a dedicated and intelligent researcher who travels to Norway to study atmospheric weather patterns. Zara is driven, curious, and clearly passionate about her field, which makes her feel grounded and realistic from the start. She isn’t simply swept into the story, she chooses to be there, which gives her character a strong sense of agency.

Aksel, on the other hand, is far more enigmatic. Living deep in the Norwegian wilderness, he is isolated, controlled, and unapologetically dominant. He offers Zara a place to stay during her research, but it quickly becomes clear that his intentions go beyond simple hospitality. Aksel’s personality is shaped by his environment—harsh, untamed, and governed by instinct rather than social norms.

The plot unfolds as Zara enters Aksel’s remote world, where his interest in primal play begins to surface. He establishes rules and expectations, positioning himself as the predator and placing Zara in a role that tests her boundaries. The story blends tension, psychological push-and-pull, and a growing attraction that is as unsettling as it is compelling. The wilderness setting mirrors their dynamic—raw, unpredictable, and at times dangerous.

Aksel’s original plan was to hunt and kill Zara, but his plans change when he meets her, and finds he doesn’t want to just kill her, he wants to hunt her and use her to satisfy his darkest desires with her body and the more time he spends with her, the greater his attraction for her, and the more he wants to keep her.

Highlights & Limitations

One of the strongest aspects of Hunted is its atmosphere. The Norwegian wilderness is vividly depicted, creating a sense of isolation that heightens both the romance and the tension. The setting feels like its own character, amplifying the intensity of Zara and Aksel’s interactions.

The dynamic between the characters is another standout. The exploration of primal play is handled in a way that leans more toward psychological tension and power exchange rather than explicit detail. For readers who enjoy darker romance with a strong edge of dominance and control, this will likely be a major draw.

I love the fact that this book has as much story as it has spice. There is a deeper storyline about how each of the two main characters change as they get to know each other more. How they are mates and how Aksel wants to claim Zara as his. How he wants her to come live with him and there is also some deeper history of Aksel’s upbringing and family history. This adds another layer of mystery and suspense to the plot.

However, the same elements may also be a limitation for some listeners. Aksel’s controlling nature and the strict rules he imposes can feel overwhelming or uncomfortable, especially for those who prefer more balanced relationship dynamics. Zara’s responses, while often strong, occasionally feel constrained by the narrative’s focus on Aksel’s dominance.

Additionally, the pacing can feel uneven at times, particularly when transitioning between plot progression and the development of their relationship. Some moments may feel rushed, while others linger longer than necessary.

Narration Performance

The narration by Autumn Ivy and Corvin King adds a significant layer to the audiobook experience.

Autumn Ivy brings Zara to life with a voice that captures both her intelligence and vulnerability. She effectively conveys Zara’s internal conflict—her curiosity, hesitation, and gradual immersion into Aksel’s world.

Corvin King’s performance as Aksel is particularly fitting. His tone carries a deep, controlled intensity that aligns well with the character’s dominant and predatory nature. He manages to convey both restraint and underlying danger, which enhances the tension throughout the story. His deep, sexy voice doesn’t hurt the narration either.

Together, the duet narration creates a strong contrast between the characters, making their interactions feel more immersive and emotionally charged.

Final Thoughts

Hunted is a dark, atmospheric romance that leans heavily into themes of control, instinct, and power dynamics. It’s not a light or conventional love story, but rather one that thrives on tension and psychological complexity.

Fans of darker romance with primal elements and a strong wilderness setting will likely find this audiobook engaging and memorable. While the intensity and character dynamics may not appeal to everyone, those who enjoy pushing the boundaries of the genre will appreciate what this story offers.

Overall, the audiobook stands out for its mood, narration, and unapologetically dark tone, making it a compelling listen for the right audience.
