I Enjoyed It

This was a really good book and my first from this author. I thought the premise was very interesting, and having liked Kirt Graves' narration before, I was eager to pick it up. It was definitely an emotional read, and dealt with grieving, trauma, depression, emptiness, forgiveness, healing, and love. I liked the characters and the journey they took. Kirt Graves did a wonderful job with his narration. I could distinguish between the different characters' voices and everything was spoken well and clearly with good tone.

Engrossing & Emotional! Great Story & Narration🎧

Nikole Knight created something very special when she created the “Fire & Brimstone” universe and it quickly became one of my favorite paranormal fantasy worlds to visit and spend time in. The characters are amazing and I absolutely adored the lead characters in the “Fire & Brimstone Scroll” series, but there were other characters who made quite an impression, including Uriel, the lead character of this book and spinoff. I highly recommend reading or listening to the original series first, not only are they amazing stories, but it is the best way to get to know the world the story is set in, but also witness the events that took place then and are mentioned in this book. Knowing all that and where Uriel came from adds more depth. Uriel, an Archangel, is a shell of his former self, he is despondent and grief-stricken over the loss of his committeds, his lovers. He is also full of guilt and blames himself for their deaths, since he did not save them or keep them safe. Jesse, a hybrid, is the son of Lucifer, and one of the lab experiments that escaped, but he is nothing like his father, yet people hate him and want nothing to do with him. He always had a thing for Uriel and when he sees Uriel is in such a bad way, he wants to help him, but it is not only that he wants Uriel to teach him the ropes, and more, he wants him to dominate him. Except Uriel is not looking for any type of relationship, he hasn’t even scened since his committeds and he still sees their faces when he even thinks about being with anyone. Despite not making it easy, Jesse finds his way into Uriel’s life, but Uriel has a way to push people away and disappear. Jesse does not give up on him and when Uriel gets to his lowest, he calls in the big guns who get him the help he needs. As always, the writing and plotting is fantastic, the story not only captivated my attention the entire time, but it tugged on my heartstrings too. There are some gut wrenching scenes but all tastefully done, as are the kink scenes, tastefully and super hot. There were brief cameos of Riley and his men, and it was great to see them again. Nicole Knight, thank you for another amazing story and emotional rollercoaster ride.

🎧📚🎧 And for the fantastic narration, Kirt Graves does an amazing job bringing these characters to life and does so with a complete understanding of who he is portraying. I love how he takes each role and makes it his own and sounds believable in every role he plays, accents and all. You could hear how much heart he puts into his work as he captures all the characters’ emotions and projects them into his performance, having you feel every single one. Kirt Graves is a versatile voice artist and an entertaining storyteller. Thank you for another fabulous listen, it is always a pleasure to listen to your audios.

Heartbreaking and Emotional!

This latest book is powered by emotions. And listening on audible by Kirt Graves is a powerful experience. Kirt has given so much heart and soul to these guys. I felt so much pain yet so much hope for Uriel and was so glad Jesse was there for him. Jesse is so upbeat despite his own situation in life. These two make an unlikely pair from different sides of this world which is why it is so beautiful to listen too. They make each other whole. I cried sad and happy tears during this one!

Phenomenal

This one was one of my top listens of the year so far! This is a spinoff of Nikole Knights Fire and Brimstone series and is better if you read the ones that came before for best enjoyment. It rips your heart out and puts it back together again! Soooo good! Cannot wait to read the next one. Kirt Graves does a lovely job with the narration.

Wowwee!!!

I am not normally a kink fan, and only the most lovingly crafted BDSM books turn me on. This book is one of those!!!
This world is so complex, the characters are so complete, that you feel every gasp and gulp as they occur.
Uriel has a past (and while I haven't listened to previous stories, enough is told) and he is burying it in drink. Jesse is starving for love, and as a spawn of Lucifer (an Angel hybrid) he is used to being denied. But together they are FIRE, and this story must be listened to, whether you like kink or not!

Prepare for an emotional journey

If you’ve read/listened to the Fire & Brimstone Scrolls then you know how horrible the final battle was. It has now been about 20 years since the final showdown and Uriel is still hurting just as much as he was that first day. He struggles with alcoholism and suicidal thoughts as his grief threatens to drown him.

Jesse is a hybrid whose sire was Lucifer and for better or worse he looks a lot like him and is therefore unfairly judged on his face alone. He has a best friend Kelly/Kelli who is also a hybrid who is absolutely hilarious but other than him, he lives quite a solitary life.

Jesse has had a huge crush on Uriel for years but sees how he struggles and hasn’t had the bravery to approach him until one night he comes to his defense when he is in a bar fight. It’s not smooth sailing but slowly they become friends and Uriel starts to let him in.

There are lots of cameos from Riley and his sexy men which was great. Kirt Graves did a wonderful job emoting how deeply Uriel is hurting from his losses. I found myself in tears more than once. The hurt and despair was palpable. This book takes you on a truly emotional journey and there is an HEA on the other side.

Emotional listen!

I absolutely love the Fire and Brimstone Scrolls series. So I love that we get more of this world. This is such an emotional rollercoaster and I love it. Uriel broke my heart and I just wanted him to be happy. Jesse is such a sweetheart and so perfect for Uriel. This is such an amazing world and Kirt Graves does an amazing job with the narration. He does such an amazing job bring these characters to life. Amazing listen!

Nikole is a master

This story was both heartbreaking and amazing. I agree that you want to read the other Fire and Brimstone Scroll stories first. (I guess you could read this as a standalone - but really why would you?) Uriel was such a different character in those stories to see where he is now. And poor Jesse who can't really do anything about what other people think yet has a heart full of gold. If you are someone that has triggers, please note the ones in this story. And make sure you have your tissues ready. LOVE LOVE LOVE it!

Kirt Graves not only does an amazing job at narrating this story, but I was also just in awe of his ability to carry Uriel's accent throughout the whole story. Even though this story has some real heart wrenching moments, I would listen to Kirt over and over with these books.

This is a spin-off story within the Fire & Brimstone Scrolls series universe by Nikole Knight. I love love love the Fire & Brimstone Scrolls series so I couldn't wait to listen to Uriel's story. Kirt Graves is narrating this story as well and has done a fantastic job with all the books in the series. I binged listened to the entire series, I just couldn't get enough.

This story has it all, be sure and read the trigger warnings before reading/listening in case there is something you might not want to be exposed to. I hate reviews that slam a book because the reader didn't check out the warnings before hand.

I loved everything about the "twinkiest twink who ever twinked” and the hybrid who looks too much like his sire. I ached for Uriel as he suffered from the loss of his committeds, he just couldn't move on.

I can't wait to see what Nikole has in store for us next... I'm definitely not ready to say goodbye to all these amazing characters.
