I'm saying bye

to 2018 with one of my top 10 bucket list trips: Las Vegas. But the vibes will be less Vegas, baby than Vegas, babies, since I’ll have my two children in tow. And while our plans don't include gambling, they do include plenty of neon, a magic show or circus act, hiking in the desert, a glitzy meal, and maybe a little Liberace (fun fact: his museum collection is now housed at Michael Jackson's Thriller Villa).

Luckily, the kids are now old enough to amuse themselves on the plane while I relax with an audiobook. I've never really been one for airplane books—those last-minute paperbacks you grab before a flight and just as quickly forget. But I’ve discovered a subgenre of thrillers I can't get enough of, though I’m not sure I'm brave enough tackle it midair. More on that below, and have a snazzy, sequin-spangled holiday. See you in 2019!
