Frequently asked questions

You must first download or update the latest version of the Audible app for iOS. Once you provide microphone access, you will be able to start using Alexa by simply saying “Alexa, read my book” when the app is open and on screen. You can always turn the feature on or off in the Audible app settings.
All “play” utterances available on Echo devices with Audible are enabled within the Audible app for iOS, including requests for audiobooks based on title. And just like with an Echo, you can ask to skip to any other part of the title you’re listening to, go back 17 seconds or 43 minutes, skip to the next chapter, rewind to Chapter 1, and so on.

You can also ask Alexa for any information about your current title that you might be interested in learning. Alexa will provide the answer to any question and then return you to your listen.
Alexa only works when the app is open, in the foreground (in use), with the device unlocked. To prevent you from needing to unlock the device in Car Mode, when plugged in to a power source, or when hands-free mobile listening is enabled, the device’s screen is kept awake.
Yes, Alexa will be able to identify voice requests even while your book is playing. We'd recommend using it when connected to a wired headset, car audio system, or an external speaker for the best results.
This feature is available on the Audible iOS and Android app in the US, CA, UK, DE, FR, IT, ES, AU, IN, and JP.
