“When Audible asked that I send them a list of five favorite audiobooks, I immediately panicked. Five? Only five? After a quick scroll through my Audible Library, I came up with more than 20 that I’d recommend wholeheartedly. So, in an effort to narrow down my list, I chose five favorite fantasy audiobooks that are not only incredible stories, but the narrator performances are amazing, too. Happy listening!” —Devney Perry, author of Rites of the Starling
This is one of my top favorite fantasy books I've read in the past year. It’s beautifully unique and heartbreaking. A stunning tale written by M.L. Wang and a truly fantastic performance by Moira Quirk narrating a story of magic and mages. If you’re looking for a standalone fantasy to occupy your ears, this is that audiobook.
There’s life before you listen to Damian Lynch read Empire of the Vampire, and then there’s life after. This audiobook not only turned me into Damian’s biggest fan, but it started my obsession with Jay Kristoff’s stories. This is a remarkable performance for an exhilarating story of vampires and vampire hunters.
This story by SenLinYu is hauntingly beautiful, and I loved every minute. There’s something addicting about Saskia Maarleveld’s voice, and this was a top listen of my year. Alchemised is a book that sticks with you and one I’ll never forget.
The Guild Hunter series by Nalini Singh is an absolute favorite of mine that I’ve been reading for years. These characters have a piece of my heart, and I love re-listening to their stories with the audiobooks and Justine Eyre's narration. If you love epic, sweeping romances with a vivid, urban fantasy backdrop, this is the series for you.
If I had to pick a favorite dystopian series, it would be this one. Pierce Brown quickly became a favorite storyteller with Red Rising, and the audio performance by Tim Gerard Reynolds is wonderfully immersive. Highly recommend.
