I wrote my first book when I was ten years old, a Jules Verne-esque adventure story that was completed in a single week and hand-bound for posterity in badly painted cardboard. It took me several decades more to finish the next one. As an Englishman living and working in the United States, I am more than ever interested in the landscapes and languages of the British Isles, the meeting places of history and archaeology, geography and linguistics, folklore and myth. In my day job, I am a publisher of scientific and medical books at Oxford University Press. I am married to Sharon; we live in South Orange, NJ and have two sons, Aidan (19) and Ethan (17).
