Mary Potter Kenyon graduated from the University of Northern Iowa with a B.A. in Psychology and is a certified grief counselor trained under world-renown grief expert David Kessler. Mary is widely published in magazines, newspapers, and anthologies, including ten Chicken Soup titles. She conducts creativity and writing workshops for local libraries, community colleges, conferences and women's groups and is a member of Advanced Writers and Speakers Association. She is the author of seven books including the award winning "Refined By Fire: A Journey of Grief and Grace" and "Called to Be Creative: A Guide to Reigniting Your Creativity." Her children's book on grief will be released by Familius in 2023. Mary and her husband Nick Portzen live in Dubuque, Iowa and are co-coordinators for an annual Christian Writers conference in Cedar Falls, Iowa. They speak together on the power of a praying partnership.
