Kenneth D. King is a couture fashion designer based in New York City. He specializes in custom evening wear, and his designs appear in the permanent collections of leading museums, including the L. A. County Museum of Art, and the Victoria and Albert Museum in London. King is also an author and Contributing Editor at Threads Magazine. Along with all of this, he’s a professor of haute couture at The Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City.
King's next two books combine story with sewing technique, and are aimed at the 1/6 scale fashion doll. They are: Doll Couture: Creating Custom Clothes Featuring The Story Of Lola (Taunton Press 2023), and the upcoming Doll Couture: Red Carpet Edition (Broad Book Press, 2025)
These books cross genres, combining stories of the dolls along with sewing technique.
His earlier books are: Designer Techniques (Sterling Publishing, 1996), Designer Bead Embroidery (Quarto Publishing, 2006), Cool Couture (Creative Publishing, 2008), Smart Fitting Solutions (Taunton Press 2017) as well as eleven self-published books on CD covering different couture garment construction topics.
All Grown Up Now (CreateSpace 2012) is his first effort in another genre.
