Jennifer A. Reich is Professor of Sociology at the University of Colorado Denver. Her research explores the intersections between the state and family. She earned her doctorate in Sociology from the University of California, Davis and completed a post-doctoral fellowship in healthy policy at the University of California, San Francisco. She is author of the award winning books, Fixing Families: Parents, Power, and the Child Welfare System (2005 Routledge) and Calling the Shots: Why Parents Reject Vaccines (2016 NYU Press) as well as numerous articles and book chapters that examine reproductive decision-making, welfare and charity provision, multi-racial families, children's views of the child welfare system, how parents decide to opt out of childhood vaccinations, and qualitative research methods.
