The string of tiny islands, known as the Florida Keys, drip off the end of the Florida peninsula strung together in the shallow water by the overseas highway. At the very end of the string sits lush and colorful little Key West the location for Elizabeth Hilleren's Key West Murder Mystery Series. She her feel for the town is reflected in her books. Elizabeth Hilleren loves her characters and it shows in her writing. A frequent comment from reviewers is “I love these characters. I’ve read the whole series and I can’t wait to see what they do next.” Most readers do read the whole series. Her newest book, number 18 in the series, is Key West Deadly Find. A young and strikingly beautiful trust fund lady, who made an embarrassing scene in Assistant District Attorney Matt Travis’ office yesterday morning, loudly demanding he not send her back to hell, is early this morning, bleeding in the dark on Sharkey’s dock with a cut throat. In the hours after midnight, a young woman is killed on Sharkey’s dock in a manner both brutal and bloody. No one can figure out why the woman, so happy to have a stable relationship with a rising young lawyer in the District Attorney’s office, should show up there hysterical and afraid, and make a huge scene in the DA’ office loudly demanding a marriage that could save her or he could send her back to hell. The ambitious Samantha Faulkner is assigned the case when the existing evidence points to the killer as her co-worker Matt Travis, the other half of that previously stable relationship. Samantha presses the detectives of the KWPD to avoid tunnel vision and expand their search for the real killer, especially when she learns that the victim had a scary stalker watching her every move. Alana McCabe, sister of KWPD Officer Jordan McCabe, is living with Jordan and trying to work on her Post Traumatic Stress from an injury that almost killed her and that she does not remember. She is working with psychologist Dr. Rex Jamison to prepare her to remember the trauma of her injury in a non-threatening way and fill the empty gaps in her memory. She can’t understand why her late night wanderings take her again and again, to the cemetery where she finds herself staring through the tall iron-bar-fence into the rows of sarcophagi dimly lit only by the high street lights outside. The detectives of the Key West police department are working to solve this bloody mystery but they keep asking themselves, why Sharkey’s dock? It is this case that eventually brings him to Key West to write a book about The Napa Valley case away from the distractions of San Francisco. But he is soon distracted by new Detective David Sharkey and his friends, who are aware of Dr. Jamison from the national publicity surrounding the Napa Valley case. Rex volunteers to help the new detective solve his first murder as described in book one, Zero Duval. Tristan has just recently been released as an audio book as well as the existing regular eBook.
