Every candle lit invites something into the dark.
Ione, a priest's daughter suffocating in a world of silent prayer, lights a forbidden candle. She doesn't pray for salvation. She prays for anything else, a release from the crushing piety that defines her life.
What answers is a hunger made of shadow and flame. Lazriel, a primeval fire spirit, offers her a warmth she's never known and a pleasure that borders on pain. He promises to fill her emptiness, but his price is absolute devotion. He demands she become the altar for his profane worship.
Caught in a dangerous game of submission and release, Ione is terrified by the filthy prayers he demands and the shameless way her body betrays her faith. To be claimed by him is damnation, but his touch is the only thing that makes her feel alive. She must choose between the cold, empty light of her past and the all-consuming fire of a love powerful enough to burn the heavens down.
This standalone book has themes of forbidden rituals, corruption of innocence, monster romance, praise and worship, a possessive fire god, and a happily ever after.

Review of audiobook borrowed through Audible Plus, and I’m grateful for it.
This is a surprisingly well done little sexy times story that balances on the edge of smutty, but stays enough to this side that I can recommend it.
Possible Spoilers:
I’m not a fan of demon stories but, if you can overlook that one negative, this story is done well.
Ione is a lonely and isolated priest’s daughter who is tempted by a secret manuscript into calling on the demon Lazriel. Of course, she was not able to contain him. So begins his seduction of Ione, step by step. Her distraction leads to inattention towards her tasks, punishment by her father, and further isolation. Lazriel’s conquering of Ione comes with a surprising result.
The Virtual Voice doesn’t noticeably detract from the story.
