Publisher's summary

Being the daughter of a Butte copper king won’t buy Mary Millard happiness, especially when she discovers her father’s plan to marry her to a cruel man. Desperate, Mary makes an arrangement with a man she meets on a train: pretend to be my intended so I can delay the inevitable. But little does she know it isn’t one man who will save her, but two.

Parker and Sully know the second they meet a beautiful passenger on the train to Butte that she will be their bride. They expected to court her properly, to acclimate to the unusual custom of being the wife of two men. Instead, she turns to them with an insane scheme to protect herself from a man they know to be anything but kind. But a fiancé won’t protect her from a bad marriage. Only a husband can do that.

When Mary weds her Bridgewater men, she learns that while she has two big cowboys to protect her from her past, it’s possible she has the power to save them right back.

Bridgewater: where ménage meets marriage.

One problem

Love this series of books and I adore this writer. But the producer/editor made a mistake. The last chapter is actually the prologue and should be chapter 2 not chapter 15.

WOW! Kylie does a great job . Love her voice

Enjoyed the story and the characters. The characters were interesting and well defined. One thing that made this book so interesting and fun was the narration by Kylie.

Great Menage Story.

I really like the characters and their enter-action. Vanessa Vale has become 1 of my favorite authors. But the Prolong at the end?

Awesome!!

Awesome and risqué storyline! I love Vanessa Vale and all her hot n steamy stories! 😍😜So I’m a little biased! I will say she always has a real plot and I love the sexy characters she creates…

The narration is pretty good, sometimes the characters can get a little confusing especially if you’re not as focused on the storyline as you need to be…However, I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again Kristen Stewart does a great job with the narration. I’m able to picture a certain type of man when I listen so I’m cool. I’ve heard some REALLY Terrible narration, to the point where you can’t even listen to the book at all so like I said I’m good..👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾😍

Prologue in the wrong location.

The prologue was placed in an epilogue’s location. Having it in the correct place would provide the information that would make the first chapters better. The incorrect placement makes you feel like there’s something missing. The rest of the books in the series don’t have that feeling. I found it odd until I discovered the misplaced prologue.

Sigh

First, the prolouge is in the wrong place. They tacked it onto the end of the recording for some reason.

This author has a weird grasp of consent. The men in this series are enraged when someone attacks a woman or pushes for liberties they shouldn't...but then they ignore a "No" and use phrases like "we know what's good for you" when asked about their own consent violations. They say things like, "We'd never beat you. Never hurt you." Then spank her, against her will, like a petulant child, in the next chapter. It's not negotiated. They get no safewords. The whole series is very...you'll do as you're told and like it. Gets pretty cringe sometimes.

Oh, and the narrator can not pronounce chemise, mechanist, guillotine...etc. At least she isn't moaning during the sex scenes.

Parker Corbin, Mary Millard, and Adam Sullivan

*****Spoiler Alert*****

Audible Premium Plus borrow. 3 POV. The Bridgewater Ménage Series, Book 8 of 12. Listed as 3 hours 30 minutes; I listened at speed 1.50 for 2 hours 15 minutes. Woohoo, the author finally gave her characters full names. The narrator read well in an average American accent and briefly adopted a British accent. Strangely the prologue is read at the end, it would have helped the story had it been read at the beginning. Trigger warnings: abuse of a prostitute; voyeurism; 4 men murdered after they r@ped and murdered Indians; spanking as discipline and to excite; butt plugs; mercenaries are murdered; a man is murdered in defense of the woman he was threatening; DP.

Mary is on her return from a trip to visit her father's mother. When she alights from the train she sees Gregory, her father, and Reginald, the man he wants her to marry, approaching. Parker Corbin is coming off directly behind her and in her distress she discreetly asks him to pretend to be with her. Parker quickly assesses the situation and he and Adam Sullivan (aka Sully/Shooter Sullivan) decide it would be best for Sully to publicly claim her. Once Gregory and Reginald meet up with them Gregory tries to get Mary to come with them but Sully steps in and says they're married. When asked for proof Mary steps up and exclaims the positions Sully has had her but Reginald still insists on documentation. They eventually convince them and the men walk away. Knowing it won't be long until they try to retaliate Mary takes Parker and Sully to the town brothel to hide until the next day. Rose, the madame, and Chloe, a prostitute and Mary's friend, talk to them and are convinced that it is best for Mary to marry Sully, quickly get the judge, and they marry. The trio spend the night and with Rose's help leave the next day to return to Bridgewater. Once home they along with the other Bridgewater men devise a plan to protect Mary and end any threat against her. Once their plan falls into place thre men go to tane care of the problem and Mary decides to slip away and warn her father about the fact that Reginald's copper mine has gone dry. Reginald arrives and admits to it and tries to convince Mary that Sully is dead. Parker and Sully barge in, Reginald grabs Mary by the throat, Sully convinces Reginald to let her go, and as soon as he releases her Gregory shoots him. Parker, Mary, and Sully return to Bridgewater.
