Publisher's summary

Pop star Leontyne Blake might sing about love, but she stopped believing in it a long time ago. What women want is her image, not the real her. When her father has a stroke, she flees the spotlight and returns to her tiny Missouri hometown.

In her childhood home, she meets small-town nurse Holly Drummond, who isn't impressed by Leo's fame at all. That isn't the only thing that makes Holly different from other women. She's also asexual. For her, dating is a minefield of expectations that she has decided to avoid.

Can the tentative friendship between a burned-out pop star and a woman not interested in sex develop into something more despite their diverse expectations?

Contains mature themes.

Omg... This book changed my life...

So a book focused on a pop star wasn't really striking any chords and to be honest one of the characters being ace had me a little anxious about how much I'd enjoy it.

I can't even imagine thinking those things now. The changes of pov and seeing things through the characters eyes was very enlightening. I learned I had a lot of preconceptions that was doing nothing but hurting me.

That said... it is incredibly intimate and well written. The reader does an absolutely astonishing job. I've been reading Jae for a while and just hadn't gotten to this. So sad I waited, cause its some of the best I've read.

Intimacy is waaaaaay better than sex. <3

Stars are people too!

This story was so good. I liked how we met the pop star fist but could fall in love with Leo as going home brought her to face herself. This is such a tender love story that speaks to what real love is meant to be like. Holly and Leo face challenges but together they find Perfect Rhythm.

Pure Perfection!

I I have never known somebody that is asexual or seeing much of a perspective from someone that is, so it was really refreshing to be able to see that within this book. Representation matters!!! And to learn that there are so many varieties within asexuality that are all worthy and valid. Highly recommended!

Many Paths To Love!

This story is a great reminder that there are many paths to love! And the important thing is to find the path and make the journey! The writer included real, intimate and beautiful conversations about love and love-making between two souls and bodies who wanted to find a way to please each other. There are also considerations of work life balance and taking a moments to think about what is important and what becomes routine and what defines success outside of other’s expectations. The family and friends add a true sense of community, which promotes growth in everyone! This book is an important contribution to the “A” in LGBTQIA. Thanks to the author for writing this and the narrator for making it a such a great listen!

Gave me something to think about

This novel was fairly well written. I enjoyed the characters, and the flow of the story kept me wanting to know what would happen next. The whole idea of people being asexual was a bit weird for me, even though I'd run into it in a web series I'd watched, a while ago. I have trouble not thinking of asexual people as being handicapped or having suffered psychological trauma to put them in that state. I suppose that I find a naturally occurring asexuality to be unlikely, considering it's not something likely to be passed on through genes, for obvious reasons. I will say, though, that this story made me think differently about relationships in general, and I like novels that give me something different to think about. I actually found myself semi-analyzing my own relationships to see how they held up, with different standards of intimacy, and whatnot. I'm grateful to the author for giving me a new way to look at things. Also, the narrator was really good...hoping to hear more from her.

This changed my mind. =] It was awesome!

Okay confession time. I don't like romance novels. *gasp* I know, then why the heck am writing this. Here is why.

I started giving them a chance again. After finding a couple that I kinda vibed with I stumbled upon this one. Let me tell you, it renewed my faith in the genre. The story is excellent and it isn't so over the top that you can't relate to the characters.

Everything felt genuine from the first to the last page. It was refreshing to listen to a story that allowed characters to grow without having the sexual nature of a relationship be all consuming. The narrator did a wonderful job and I wish there was more to this story.

A truly romantic story...

This book is romantic, sensual and endearing. A wonder story of open minds and hearts and the incredible opportunities that are available when we are willing to do both.

With narrator Angela Dawe doing an incredibly teriffic job with this read.
