Publisher's summary

MENAFTER10 is a gay hookup app for "urban men looking for urban men". Among its users is Chauncey Lee, who is always online, always looking. What exactly he's looking for is a mystery even to him, but he does his best trying to find it by dating in bedrooms across an unnamed city.

Brontae Williams is just the opposite. He's lonely and desperately wants to settle down into a long-term relationship. His biggest problem is that the only thing anyone wants these days is quick and casual sex.

LeMilion Meeks, however, is used to the fast life. With his big personality, he might come off as content with snorting coke in club bathrooms, but he's learning that knowing his HIV status is entirely different than knowing what to do with it.

Despite the differences between them, their reasons for using the app are the same. The stories of these men and the men they meet online intersect and converge in this brilliant and sexy debut novel.

Very relatable

Menafter 10 is a relatable fictional tale of modern online dating in the lgbt community. It was like listening to a detailed memory. Definitely explicit in its details but not obscene. The narrator and writing is smooth, easy to follow, and engaging.

I couldn't put it down.

The stories, I was so here for. The Arthur made it easy to connect with the at least one character. Whether it's you or someone you know. Menafter10 had some familiarity. I must say it was yet very steamy, great word pictures. But the Arthur gave room for interpretation and to allow some imagination for the reader.

So We Beat On

Picture this novel as a frozen cherry, it's exterior is coated in prickly microscopic isicles; which, act as frigid reminders of how the dating scene these days has all but changed.

As you cut deeper into the chilled flesh of this cherry you reveal a darker more bloodied reality that hides just beyond the gaze of all those people who revel in their own holiness.

While whimsical interactions permeate these pages, you are in the end left with a dull almost translucent wanting for more closure.

Relevant and Real

Author Casey Hamilton presents a relevant and realistic portrayal of self discovery for black gay men navigating the murky waters of lust and love. He skillfully uses various literary elements to paint a picture of black gay life and online dating and sex in today's society. Peeling back the layers behind behaviors, his characters reveal what every black gay man wants, needs, and desires - to be loved and respected. Kudos to Hamilton for sharing his genius and giving the literary world more than just a book about black gay sex. MenAfter10 is so much more!
