Let's start by stating the obvious... C.D. Reiss can write like nobody else! This woman has such a gift for words and for developing character chemistry that is uncanny. The premise if the story is solid, the pace is very well done and the stakes were always high. These characters were engaging and she definately delivered on the sexy / hotness factor. Elena Wolfe and Sebastian York are always such a dream together, but having them narrate for C.D Reiss is like the perfect trifecta of voice to content. I am.so happy this is a series because it means I'll get to hear more about the characters as the other's stories develop. So thrilled for this audio! A true must listen.

Byron Crowne does not see himself as a good man.. nor does he ever see himself married. He was engaged once… that did not work out for him.

Olivia wants a baby. Is undergoing IUI to make that happen when she meets Byron. He pursues her and one thing leads to another…. And there is way, way more in this book!

Cd Reiss has a way…. Of grabbing attention and keeping attention to the very end! Byron and Olivia’s story does just that… because there is SUCH a fantastic story.

Add to that excellent story, Sebastian York and Elena Wolfe as narrators…. It’s a home run!!! Moving on to Crowne of Lies now… cant wait!!

I read these out of order so I had already fallen for Logan by the time I discovered Byron.

Lord Byron can have anyone with the crook of his finger. But he doesn’t want just anyone. He wants her; the one woman who will push all his buttons, both in battle and in bed. He only wants now but she wants...a baby? Yeah, he can do that. Right? He just doesn’t want her forever. So many lines drawn in the sand and the real problem is him. All those walls he built, encased his heart in stone? She’s destroying him. Or breathing life into him. Lord Byron? and his Olivia. 🔥🔥🔥

This was my 1st read by CD Reiss and I was not disappointed. She'd been popping up in my feed for awhile now and I knew I'd eventually HAVE to pick up one of these books! Looks like Iron Crowne was THE one to catch my eye and make it my next read and 1st one by Reiss.
I loved the preface of a strong powerful woman who put her career 1st and decided to wait to have a baby until she was established and in a good place. Now she is feeling a little anxious and fearful she may have missed her time as she is having trouble getting pregnant via the IUI therapy treatments. Her gay best friend is providing the sperm and wasn't looking to be a dad, just the bestest Uncle on the planet. Olivia wanted to do this on her own, as she had no partner, her and her boyfriend separated so she was happy to still be a parent. Her mother did it by herself with 2 daughters so why can't she? Olivia is a strong independent unapologetic woman who knows what she wants...just running into a couple of hiccups on the road to getting it. She doesn't want to give up and a night of unplanned passion threatened to derail all her hard work...
Enter Byron Crowne 😏 boy oh boy is this a M-A-N!! Just yummy! He is extremely confident, dominant and honest...a rare combo. He knows exactly what he DOESN'T want and falling in love or ever getting married. He had been burned in the most traumatic kind of way and vowed to protect his heart at all costs going forward... didn't mean he couldn't enjoy the finer form of the woman of course! The first time he saw Olivia electricity exploded between them. Their chemistry was undeniable and he was ready to explore it, in anyway she would allow.
Olivia did not want anything to do with the pompous billionaire but get him to stop building the monstrocity he was on preserved land. She is a conservation lawyer and not falling for Mr. Crownes antics to get her to turn the other way.
They come together and its 🔥! They made me fan myself as the steam was off the hook hot at times! I love a smokin' book that unapologetically gets down and dirty. Yes, this was definitely one I'll remember.
I originally purchased the audible version but quickly grabbed the kindle as well within the 1st chapter I was so hooked! 2 of my favorite narrators kicked this book into HIGH STEAM TERRITORY with little effort. They both know how to bring a book to life and with one so good already?? It’s pretty awesome to lose yourself with Sebastian York and Elena Wolfe reading.
All in all an AMAZING showing for this author. Now I get to gleefully go through her giant backlog of books and get lost in her world. A stellar writer, she draws you into her story and doesn't let go. The only thing I didn't like was how quickly the major obstacle of the story was resolved. That part didn't sit well but the rest was super rad, go grab this book, you won't regret it!

I wish we can give half stars. Because while not a 5 star read, this is a pretty solid 4+ stars.

Call it a ridiculous trope, the “get me pregnant” one is just hot to me. I get why Olivia had this strong desire to have a child and to essentially feel validated. Having a fertility doctor and a trusted friend help out actually felt solid. Then Byron Crowne had to waltz into her work life and into a bed.

Byron is a broken man, but essentially grew up with good parents. When fate pits them against each other, their chemistry explodes. A chance to be a father is in the cards, but he believes there is not chance as a future partner.

CD Reiss has a way with writing the intimate scenes. The ones in this were crazed and volatile. At the same time, soft feelings were coming into focus.

I liked the story. There were some great side characters. The driver. The friend. The lovely mother. I look forward to the next Crowne brother as well.

Elena Wolfe and Sebastian York were great, but some parts felt weird with duet segments. Still, they are awesome. Note: Byron/Sebastian’s chapters are a bit later in the book. So if you’re hankering for. SebYo fix, be patient!

Great narrators and the story moved along nicely.

I struggled to get past a plot twist that made no sense, specifically how a woman who loathes a man, despises him for his morals and business ethics, claims she hates him, would never marry him but is willing to consider him suitable material as a father for her child. Not just as a donor of genetic material but as a 'father'! I appreciate a strong female character and generally Olivia is that, it's unfortunate CD Reiss chose to have Olivia collapse into a mewling sex toy every time she was near Byron.

Ah well, the narration was great and Reiss writes well, I decided to suspend disbelief for that part of the story and ignore the moose on the table.

Enjoyable story but highly improbable plot twist.

I enjoy these 2 narrators , they work really well together. This story where the enemies the lovers, fast paced romance between 2 lawyers on opposing sides. Against all odds each had what the other needed. Definitely recommend.

I had never read a book from this author - but I'm glad that I did. This book was a man-made ride from start to finish.

This story dealt with the fear of Byron Crowne to risk loving. Olivia is strong, smart and a fighter. She stands up for what she believes in, even if it appears otherworldly not normal. Her denial of the feelings toward Byron is complicated by his hot & cold attitude drives her crazy.

The dual male & female narrators were ok, but I found the chapter switches in voices detracted from the story. I would have preferred the story told from one narrator or if possible have the male narrator voice Byron's words and the demale narrator voice Olivia's words.
