Publisher's summary

Accidentally mated to her family's worst enemy....

Bear shifter Kayla Swanson is trapped. While firefighting a wildfire in New Mexico, she makes a grave mistake and the flames are getting close. Lucky for her a tall, ruggedly handsome shifter comes to her aid.

The fire may have been extinguished but their passion sparks a heated encounter. A mating bond takes them both by surprise, and a surprise baby is on the way. One problem: this shifter happens to be a disgraced police officer and convicted felon. A mating bond means forever, but what if forever doesn't work out?

Kayla's always wanted a mate and a family of her own. Just not this mate. How can she be bonded to a man she knows she should despise? Even if she can't stop thinking about his courage and compassion in the face of overwhelming danger....

Nice, sweet romance

Good listening experience! The narrator did a good job; she had good emotion to her voice and fit the characters well.

This was well-written and I was entertained by the story. I would’ve liked for there to be more action; too slow moving at times and there wasn’t any real excitement to the story, but it’s still a nice romance. Saber tooth shifter, Pete, has been in jail for years, but has grown as a person and understands how wrong he was in the past. When he saves a whole bunch of people during some wildfires; he’s part of the prison firefighter crew, it leads to him being pardoned. While fighting the fire, he meets bear shifter, Kayla Swanson, and the two have an explosive night of passion while trapped together. Kayla and Pete don’t really get to know each other, so it’s a bit surprising for them when Kayla finds out that Pete and the Swansons have some bad blood between them. Kayla is very worried about it all; especially since it turns out Pete and Kayla are mates! I liked the redemption scenario for Pete; the author did a good job of showing that he’s a better person. I liked Pete. I liked Kayla too, but she did come off as a bit bratty. It’s understandable, but can still be annoying. You sleep with a rando, you can’t be mad when things get a bit topsy turvy, and she was kind of rude about the mating before she even found out about who Pete really was. She’s still likable though. Good connection and steam between Pete and Kayla; they do have their cute moments too. I like when the whole family comes together too; fun dynamic between everyone. Overall, I enjoyed the story and have enjoyed many books in this series!

Hot sabertooth fireman

This book is well written and hot. The characters are charismatic and alluring. I loved the storyline it could come right from today's headline. I highly recommend this book if you love hot books that delves into forgiveness and second chances. I received this book at my request and I am voluntarily leaving my honest review here.

Enjoyable series

I always enjoy these stories from this author and narrator, the way the shifter community is bought together in each continuing book so the reader can really get to know each character. Unfortunately for some readers the stories are also sexually explicit so beware. recommended for mature readers

Inferno

I have thoroughly enjoyed each book in the Bearpaw Ridge Firefighters series. They follow a similar theme but each book is different. This is Kayla's story and her mate is a sabertooth shifter (wow!). Each of these books were well written and moved all at a nice pace.

Beth Roeg did an amazing narrating each book in the series. I received this free copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

Too Many People With Pitchforks

Honestly, the series so far has only been ok. Theses books are more like Pringles, not great but you keep eating them anyway. However, this one is a hard pass for me. Honestly I can't stand or buy that the entire town and most of the characters we've seen in the books so far would be so opposed to forgiving Pete when they have so easily forgiven other characters without a second thought. They may eventual pull their heads from their rectums, but I am stopping after 3 and a half hours of this BS.

(This part will have spoilers. If you haven't read the preceding books in the series, stop here.)
This series has always made me stretch what is possible for human behavior, but for these characters to keep holding a grudge against Pete is insane. He may have broke Mark's windows and ATTEMPTED to kill his mate, but didn't ACTUALLY cause her any harm. They forgave Dimitri easily when he actually DID hurt Ash. Steffi also forgave Aunt Margaret for threatening to take her to court. Most importantly, no one batted an eyelash that Damaris was an actual assasin, who was sent to kill Dimitri!!

For all these characters to continue to hold a grudge against him for lying to cops and ATTEMPTING to hurt Katelyn is beyond idiotic when he has spent 12 YEARS in jail and saved ALL their lives. I just can't believe the hypocrisy of these characters and it pretty much kills the story that his own mate can't forgive him. Honestly, PETE deserves better than Kayla.
