Publisher's summary

Guns n' Boys is a series about one couple, and needs to be listened to in order.

You can take a killer's memory, but not his instinct.

All Seth wants is to live free with the man he loves. But escaping death at the hands of the mafia is just the beginning of an uphill struggle. When Domenico wakes up from his impromptu surgery and doesn’t even remember Seth’s name, Seth’s world falls apart. Suddenly it’s him who has to plan an escape from New York City and navigate their way to Mexico. All that without even knowing if the man of his life will ever love him again.

Domenico doesn’t know who to trust and what to believe. The man who introduces himself as his brother seems to hide dark secrets behind a cheerful smile. With the mafia breathing down their necks, there is no time to piece together the puzzle of Domenico’s life, and each time he thinks he’s solved it, a new part appears to be missing. Dom needs to find out who he really is, what he’s capable of... and what is the real story hidden behind Seth’s intense eyes.

Possible Spoilers:

Themes: mafia, homophobia, assassin, organized crime, amnesia, road trip, chase

Genre: Dark, twisted romance / crime thriller

Warning: Adult content. Sizzling hot scenes. If you are easily offended, this book is not for you.
Guns n’ Boys is a gritty story of extreme violence, offensive language, abuse, and morally ambiguous protagonists. Behind the morbid façade, there is a splash of inappropriate dark humor, and a love story that will crawl under your skin.

Addicted!!!🤩

I am so in love with this series.

The angst and the heartbreak is real and I can't get enough of Seth and Domenico.

Seth's entire world is falling apart and seeing him cope is so hard.

Domenico us going through such a hard time with his memories failing him.

This was such a dark, gritty angsty listen.

Wyatt performed an amazing audio delivery and narration.

I can't wait to dive into the next installment to get my fix!!

Love this Series, Love this Story

This series gets better and more captivating with every book. Seth is finally stepping up his game, I enjoyed following his character growth under such challenging circumstances. Domenico is so amazing in this story, his intelligence, ability to read the situation and act on his instinct very impressive. I rarely find series where each book is about same couple so entertaining. Seth and Domenico's relationship is growing more intense and they are showing different facets of their personality while fighting vicious and powerful forces every step of the way. Narrator did a great job, his performance made this captivating story a perfect listening experience. I cannot wait for the next Guns N'Boys book.

Really hitting its stride!

This is not my first time reading this book, but this is THE book that totally changed my mind about the characters and the series so I was excited to listen to this one. This audiobook did not disappoint!!

Content notes include graphic violence, torture, deaths, animal death (a pig and a chicken), assault, mentions of rape, presumed incest, mentions of sexual abuse and grooming of a teen, unaddressed trauma from the grooming and sexual abuse, homomisia, and misogyny.

So a lot has happened at the end of book 2 and Seth and Dom are on the run. Except…Dom has no idea who he is or who Seth is. That’s right, this is officially an amnesia trope book! I think this trope can be a hit or miss for me, but seeing Dom being a more relaxed version of himself who realizes how he treated Seth in the past was wrong? Amnesia!Dom was like a breath of fresh air. It doesn’t last forever, but it certainly gives the book a much needed change, I think. And found it really interesting to see Seth take charge and have to make all their life surviving decisions for them. It’s quite a turn of events.

We also see the emergence of farmer!Seth in this book and it is so hilarious seeing how long Seth has wanted chickens in this series. Do not get in between this man and his chickens! Chickens at this point is probably only number 2 in his life after Dom. I also can’t believe what Seth names the chicken?? He is so ridiculous.

Seth also makes the worst decision E V E R in this series. Like, it’s a BAD decision. Infamous even. I am still aghast how a man who should be in hiding from the mafia family who wants to see him dead has zero brain cells in the moment. ZERO. So thank goodness, Seth and Dom manage to wiggle (aka shoot) their way out.

I somehow forgot this is the book where we meet Dana. Look, I know she’s not a lot of people’s favorite, but I LOVE HER, okay? She’s a little weird and maybe fawns over Dom and his assassin skills a little too much, but she’s AMAZING. She’s absolutely ruthless but can freely admit when she’s in over her head. She comes a long way by the end of the series, and it’s just so fun to see how Seth and Dom cross paths with her at the beginning. I didn’t even realize it was Dana when the guys first meet her.

Another character I’m happy to see again is Santo! I love Santo! I think the recommended reading order for Blood & Marriage is after this book? So, readers will just have to find out what Santo means when he tells Seth and Dom that Lucrezia (who is still legally Seth’s wife in case anyone forgot), is now Santo’s. I hope that there’s an audiobook made for that book as well?? I LOVE Santo and Lucrezia. But an interesting thing to note here is how even Federico, Santo’s father, is unnerved by his own son in the epilogue. Federico is AWFUL and but seeing him be all ??? about Santo doing his own thing is so funny to me.

I loved seeing Mr. Schwangau make an appearance. This is Dom’s German cover story/persona, and the accent Wyatt Baker gives Dom is great in the audiobook. We also hear Dom with an American southern accent in this audiobook and it’s somehow both a cringe to me (as a southerner) but something I wanted to hear more of?? I am so conflicted.

I feel like Wyatt Baker does a pretty good job with these audiobooks but I will say with this book where Seth makes a Borgia joke (like, the infamous crime family Borgia from Spanish? history), the pronunciation in the audio is super wrong. The audiobook says bor-gee-ah when the right pronunciation is bor-juh?? So that was kinda weird.

Overall, I think this book balances both fun and sexytimes with gruesome violence murder time, and it’s just enough to remind you that while this IS a romance series, it is also a dark mafia series. It’s a fine balance but K.A. Merikan pulls it off and I can’t wait for book 4 when we meet teenage Mark!

My disbelief cannot remain suspended

I'm not even entirely finished with the book, I have a few chapters left, but far too much of the plot of this book relies on Seth being a little too naive and I find it hard to believe that a person in his position would continue to keep making the same bone-headed mistakes.

We are in book three, one of our main characters has amnesia, they are desperately on the run from people who want to kill them, and yet from the way Seth is acting at certain points in the book you'd think that he's the one with amnesia and not Dom.

it simply doesn't make sense to me. It's to the point that this is truly distracting me from the story. I want to remain immersed in the drama, the action, and everything, but I can't help but feel incredulous are the very stupid choices that Seth makes. It feels like they're only being made to advance the next obstacle. And while I understand that characters can't be perfect all the time and that that would be boring and unrealistic, on the other side I like to see characters grow and change and for their challenges to grow and change with them. Instead it seems like with Seth we constantly have a very clear set up where he should avoid a very obviously dangerous situation, but is 100% completely oblivious and each time he does this, the price paid only gets steeper.

it is deeply disappointing that Seth just isn't getting it and at this point I really have to look at the author and wonder why these choices are being made. I'll finish the book, but honestly I typically don't write reviews for books and this bothered me so much that I paused in the middle of listening to the book to write this out.

Three books in and while I'm not expecting Seth to be on the same level as Dom, he desperately needs to be better. This is a shame, because I enjoy pretty much everything else about this series, but the way the character of Seth is written is a source of consternation and I might not finish the rest of the book series at this point.
