Romance is limited but it’s a solid dark thriller. Action starts in chapter one. Prison underground fighting and how boundaries change when circumstances do—really engaging book. And Narrator did such a good job 👏🎧👏

From Best to Bested was such a surprise! This book had me feeing pretty much every emotion. It was DARK, gritty, bleak, atmospheric, heartbreaking, infuriating, gut-wrenching, and TWISTY right to the very end. I’m going to be thinking about this book for a long time. MN Bennet can write anything, I swear! His range truly impresses me. Definitely check the triggers before you start, and always take care of your mental health.

I’m a little stunned, can’t lie. I don’t agree with this being classified as a dark romance, I don’t think the romantic interests interact enough for that to be accurate. I did an immersive read to up my ALC experience and the narration definitely elevated the story. I predicted one plot twist quite early (that rarely happens for me just fyi) but the other didn’t really make sense to me. For a lot of readers, this is definitely pitch black. I found myself yelling a lot because some things just seemed to obvious. I received a copy of this audiobook directly from the author and this is my befuddled but honest review. 3.75 stars rounded up to 4. I think it might be much better with second book serving as a duet to fill in some of the holes and get more backstory/context for the MCs and I would read/listen to that in a heartbeat.

This waa a darkboo.k. Roman's fall from his position of power in the prison was hard to hear but the narrator said a wonderful job in showing how far he fell. Ezra is easy to hate but you want more of him.. The twist at the end was not what m expected but enjoyed.

First, if you're wondering about listening to this book, yes it's DARK and yes you may want to read the trigger warnings first.
If you dont mind triggers, then OMG go for it.
That story is so well written and really different from all I've read until now. I'm left speechless!
Nick Cracknell did a great job with his narration but I have to admit I listened it in 1.2, 1 was a bit to slow.
I don't want to say much more because I don't want to spoil any of it.
