Publisher's summary

For centuries, the Dragon Kings have lived among mortals, forsaking their true selves. But for Kelton, hiding in the realm of shadows - and existing only in the world of dreams - is no longer an option. A human woman claims to know that he, like other dark warriors of his kind, is real. That the legends about these powerful, seductive men with hearts ablaze are true. And that, with just one embrace, Kelton could destroy her...or love her until the end of time.

Bernadette Davies is an anthropologist who knows better than to fall into the arms of a Dragon King. But how can she resist Kelton when he's so willing to share his secrets and bare his soul? He hasn't met a beautiful, trustworthy woman like Bernadette in...forever. But once they give into their mutual desire, their worlds will never be the same. Soon, Bernadette must face her dilemma: Should she expose the truth about Kelton in the name of science? Or join him in his battle with the dark forces - in the name of love?

Contains mature themes.

The Best

Loved!!!!!
Donna Grant is truly a creative writer.
This book was my favorite so far, can't wait for book 18.
The Dark Kings reads like the episode of Gameof Thorns.

Ugh!! Redundant much? Great book to say the least.

I loved the book. Had very high Hope's. As usual, another great side story within the whole of a broader storyline. I bought the kindle copy at the release date and decided I needed narration.

I only got part way through reading when I stopped to wait for the audio versions release. However, I did read a lot of the reviews. They all seemed to have about the same theme. That other storylines were finally closed out and it is glaringly obvious whom Rhi's king is. 👀 Where?!

This book was more of the same. Im a bit disappointed. This could go on forever. Though I have a strong suspicion, as does the rest of you all in the Dragon King world, that Rhi is Con's mate. But let's get to it already.

Fever was well written, what do you expect?! Donna Grant flew through the back story in this one. 👏🏾 A great read that I'd recommend to those looking for a good fantasy romance to be lost in. Not so much for series type readers.

I mean come on... At what point do you bring the bigger picture to a close?! God forbid something happens to the author or me(us as readers). 17 published, 1 pending short story and 1 pending(full novel) DK novels in, not to mention the 8 books that brought the DK series to the forefront for me, and we are still going. I'm so glad I forced myself not to get trapped in the reaper's series.

I'm ranting/venting now. See how things can drag on. Point is: Donna Grant's publisher/editor should now take the reigns and kill the series. Before she begins to lose fans.

impressed with the intricacy and detail

The opening chapter to this book is enthralling starting with the first sentence out of Bernadette's mouth and ending with Kelton's shock as he sat listening.

Once again in the fluid writing style of the author Donna Grant the reader is immediately drawn into the plot of the storyline and held stuck to the pages till the very end. This story has another twist to the drama known as the villian Mikkel. He really is a devious bad guy and one that always adds drama and intrigue to any story he is involved in.

Kelton dislikes this assignment and really wants to be doing something else but he finds he can't help his attraction to Bernadette. Fortunately for him he gets his chance to talk to her and try to change her mind about her research. His thoughtfulness on the problem and how to approach it does make him the perfect Dragon King for this job.

Bernadette doesn't give up or in easy but she is always willing to listen to another's opinion. Her academia existence is threatened because of her crusade about dragons existing so I was interested to see how the author would made everything workout realistically in this story so Bernadette and Keltan could have a romance. Quite honestly I was impressed with the intricacy and detail that was used to maneuver this storyline that made it realistic and nail biting at the same time.

5 STARS to the narrator

There is a whole lot going on.

This has to be one of the fastest pace stories I have ever read. The last couple books in this series have taken a lot of time fleshing out characters and the conflicts going on around them, this book seems to do the opposite. We get a lot of different perspectives in this book, everyone from Bernadette, to Kelton, to Con, the Reapers, to Balladyn and Usaeil. (There is also a new character that I can’t wait to learn more of.) While I really did enjoy the book as a whole, and it was great to see the conclusion to a lot of different plot points, ( it was amazing to see the kings at war) , I did feel like the main pairing did suffer a little bit. While Kelton and Bernadette’s chemistry and relationship felt realistic, the character themselves lacked a lot of backstory that helps you to truly connect with them on a more personal level . Most of this book was spent moving the series main plot forward.

Antony Ferguson does a fine job narrating this series. All and all this book gave me everything I needed and left me looking forward to the release of Flame.

Awesome book..

Loved Keltan and Bernadette, and the story!

This was all about them meeting and her ready to show proof that dragons exist, until she spends time with Keltan. After that meeting Bernadette didn’t have any interest in exposing the dragons. And there are hints that Bernadette is “special.” Can’t wait to see what happens with that bit of information.

There is explicit sex in this book and the F-bomb is used 19 times.

As to the narration: Meh!

Ah Fever, I love this book 📖!

I love this book 📖! It's amazing 👏. I love Keltan and Bernadette. They are perfect for each other. I really hate Usaeil 😒. I hope she is dead for good. I can't believe what Usaeil did to Balladine. Usaeil should be a shame of herself to what she did to Balladine. That was a coward move. Balladine deserved better. I just can't believe he died 😔 😢 💔. I've been crying 😢 😭 so hard. I love Balladine . I just hope that something will happen and he will survive 🙏. I am also happy that Con is back. I feel bad for Rhi, she had suffered so much. Now she loses Balladine also. I can't imagine her pain right now. she deserves happiness also. I really love this book, it is just mind blowing.

Finally we get to the war.

But it doesn’t seem to be the last. This one had some surprising twists and turns involving Con and Rhi in different things. I have a feeling this series is never going to resolve a happy ending for Rhi, I bet she’s the focus of the next branch off series, I’m really hoping I’m wrong.
