The narration made this book come to life. This story is original and so good. I like how the events for the fmc played out and how each mmc responded to her.
I think the dynamic in this book is great, I do think how easily she accepted her role was not plausible.
This cliffhanger is wild and I want to know what happens

The prose was great and propulsive, kept me engaged and wanting to listen more. The narrators did a fantastic job, especially considering that characters had their own demons which needed to be close to the original voice but distinct enough - very impressive! However, the plot felt quite disjointed at parts and it was hard to understand where the writer was trying to take the story. Still, if someone asked me if they should read/listen to it, I’d say yes. It was a fun read. :)

This book is a wild ride. Who wouldn't want super hot grocery guys and a model to be the reason she stops getting sick?! Ethan is my favorite Unhinged guy and I think Richard did an incredible job at capturing each of the men's personas through their voice. Kate did great with defining differences between Amara and Death and Sher, the bartender. Chapter 31 will have you running for tissues so be ready! Hans and Ember are awesome side characters and Senor Sparkles makes my teenage Lisa Frank heart squeal with happiness! I am forever happy that Ashton found a home in Purgatory and the knowledge of why he ended up there is sad but relieving. I can't wait to have Volume 2 in my ear holes!

This book was a wild ride from beginning to end! We have a colorful cast of characters (love Hans and Señor Sparkles!). I appreciate when a why choose romance has chapters from multiple POV so you can get a grasp on the different personalities of each MMC. The chapter headers with unique graphics depicting each Horseman was a nice detail as well.

This ends on a cliffhanger, so make sure you have Volume 2 queued up and ready to go! This left me with questions that I’m hoping are answered in the next book.

Unsolicited advice: Don’t read chapter 31 at work during your lunch break unless you want your coworkers to hear you sobbing.

I had smutty good time and that’s all I really ask for in a book.

The narrators both did a wonderful job portraying several characters each.

Death Defiant was SUCH a fun listen! Charlotte Chaos really knows how to throw a bunch of interesting characters together and somehow make you care about every single one of them. 😂

And honestly, Kate Clover and Richard Brock absolutely killed it with the narration. Their performances made the characters feel so real, and they brought so much personality and emotion to the story. I was completely sucked in.

I have to give a special shoutout to Hans and Senior Sparkle because I freaking loved them! 😂 They were definitely two of my favorites, and every time they popped up, it put an instant smile on my face.

And then… Chapter 31.

Yeah. Nope. 😭💔

That chapter ripped my heart straight out of my chest. I was sitting there listening with tears in my eyes like, “Charlotte, WHY would you do this to me?!” 😂 It genuinely got me in the feels, and those are the moments that stick with you.

Overall, this was such a great audiobook. Great story, great characters, plenty of emotional damage (😂), and Kate Clover and Richard Brock absolutely nailed the performances.

Definitely recommend giving this one a listen!
