Publisher's summary

Ruined. Tortured. Broken.

What could have been the perfect childhood turned into a hell that the devil himself would shy away from. I was forced to deal with an evil that would make the darkest of souls cringe.

Lily Noel was scarred but beautiful. She was perfectly flawed and everything that I needed.

Attraction bordered on obsession.

Passion bordered on ecstasy.

Addiction bordered on insanity.

Nothing could get in the way of our love.

Nothing....

This book contains dark themes including sexual assault and past child abuse.

Broken Scars

This book pulls you in so you are emotionally connected to the characters. The book was very dark but very well written and I thoroughly enjoyed it. It was so good that if you like dark, I highly recommend it. Bridget Bordeaux and Scott Rose did a great job with the narration. I received this free copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

Broken Scars

Broken Scars exhibits a magnum opus of writing. Author J.M. Walker is the empress of flirty sexy reads with inscrutable danger lurking through the pages. This novel exudes this in spades. Bleeding through the pages are insatiable moments. Swirling through the narrative are not in the cards twists that captivate you. Character's are compelling with complex personalities and relationships. Supporting character's roles are intricately weaved with the mc's. Sprinkles of witty banter entwined throughout the narrative. Lilly's grandmother impresses with her intuition & humour. Two broken scarred souls become a power couple as they are not perfect, but perfect together. Absolutely loved the two epilogues and bonus scene to end with a sweet cherry happily ever after. Looking forward to listening to what's next coming from this author.

Bridget Bordeaux, Scott Rose dual narration brought the character's and their story to reality. Bridget's tone is what I would picture as Lilly. She brought her character's emotions out. Scott Rose's performance of Lucas was spot on. He was raw, real and emotional. Great performance by both.

Brilliantly Compelling & Intense Story & Listen🎧📚🎧

This book completely wowed me, the story drew me in right from the start, grabbing my attention and captivating it for the entire book, it also tugged on my heartstrings like no other and there were several gut-wrenching moments that definitely broke off a piece of my heart. This is my first book written by J.M Walker, she has an impressive writing style, her descriptive details bring you in along side her characters, allowing you inside their heads so you can experience everything they are, seeing what they are seeing, thinking and feeling. Her storylines are interesting and original, the characters are realistic, easy to relate to and connect with, as well as easy to care about and feel for. Lily Noel walks away from her now ex-boyfriend and ducks into a tattoo shop to wait out a storm. She and the owner, Lucas Crane, start chatting and they really get each other and she continues to visit him until they are ready to make the next move. Neither of them have had the easiest of lives, each have their own baggage, issues and yes scars, some are on the outside, others are on the inside. They grow close quickly and feel comfortable sharing some but not all, they are hesitant because they are still building trust between them. We learn more from Lucas’ nightmares and flashbacks and it was horrific what he and others endured. Lily backstory is not pretty either, thankfully her grandmother’s tough love helped get her back on track. This is a heartbreakingly beautiful dark romance, the story is brilliantly plotted with plenty of drama, angst, twists and turns some of which are intensely dark and twisted, thrilling and suspenseful moments, heartfelt and emotional moments and hot romance. Lily and Lucas are survivors in their own way, and it is great to see them grow as they battle and get past their inner demons and come out ahead. J.M. Walker, thank you for this exceptional and extremely moving story and emotional rollercoaster ride.

🎧📚🎧 And for the amazing narration, Bridget Bordeaux and Scott Rose are the perfect cast to bring these characters and their story to life. They had a complete understanding of the characters they portrayed, giving each a voice that suits their character’s persona to a tee, sounding believable in every role they play and just as I pictured the character to sound. They set the perfect tone for the story, captured all the character’s emotions and projected them into their performance. These talented narrators are entertaining storytellers and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for this awesome listen!

A wonderful dark story.

Yikes! This one…is tough at times. Not for the faint of heart. I though really enjoyed it! It game me heart break and happiness at all the same time. The author did a great job building these characters and having them grow. My heart broke for Lucas more than once in this story. The male narrator did an awesome job of sounding like a broken lost man in here! He really sold it!!

Overall I loved the journey these two souls took. The epilogue rounded it all out nicely. I did listen to this on audio. The two narrators are fairly new to me. They both did a great job but the male really pulled out all the stops.

beyond the dark

I liked that Lily was more than superficial and a person of substance. Lucas was a multilayered person, and I loved every bit of his broken strong soul. A very emotional story of pain, healing, rebuilding, and learning trust. Lily's hair trigger temper in relation to Mel made me upset. but glad she could mature and act adult. Killian's depths of evilness and sickness- wow!! This is truly dark with many potential triggers. I voluntarily listened to a free copy of this and am giving an honest review. The narrators did a good job bringing the characters and story to life.

Heart-wrenching!

Ruined. Tortured. Broken. This is a dark and emotional romance. I loved Lily and Lucas's story. The characters are well developed, enigmatic, complex, strong, broken, and resilient. The storyline is raw, intense, intricate, and heart-wrenching, filled with drama and twists and turns. Some scenes are very dark, and heartbreaking. Scott Rose and Bridget Bordeaux did an excellent job with the narration. If you like Dark Romance, this one is for you.
