Publisher's summary

My father's best friend is everything I’m not supposed to want. But now he is going to be my baby's daddy....

Ash is a walking red flag. He is domineering and always in a bad mood. Tragically widowed, yet still in love with his long-dead wife, a single dad to three mini versions of himself, and much too old for me.

But I’ve wanted him since I was 16. Seeing him again more than a decade later, all those old feelings just rush back in. Every time when I look up into his deep green eyes, dark scruffy beard, and kissable dimples, all I want is to fall into his arms and never leave.

Too much wine and one bed-rocking night later, everything changed.

When my dad discovers I’m knocked up by his best friend, I may lose the two most important people in my life....

Baby for Daddy's Best Friend is an age gap surprise pregnancy billionaire romance. It will keep you hooked until the very end. No cheating, no cliffhangers, HEA guaranteed! It is a complete standalone and the first book in The Hawthorns series.

Couldn't put it down

Once I started this audio book, I couldn't stop. The story line was easy to follow and the characters were relatable. Ash, a widow, fell for his best friend's daughter, who is also the age of his own children. It was fun to see the plot come full circle. I would definitely read more from this author.

Ash and Rye

There is something special about the Hawthorne men. I have read/listen to the series a bit out of order and the whole series has been enjoyable. Ash and Rye really make it work with the age gap. It was a super adorable story.

Entertaining, Heartfelt Story!!

A wonderful entertaining heartfelt story that's so much more than the first impressions of the title! The title did make me have certain expectations (more fluff, less plot) and I am happy to say the book did not meet those expectations. The story is quite heartfelt and engaging, with both leads having their own struggles to overcome. The story is dual POV, with both perspectives being told in first person.
Ash and Rye were wonderful and complex together. They didn't have the easiest beginning to a relationship with the whole age gap, dad's best friend thing going on. And Ash does his best to put up walls, both for thinking his best friend's daughter is attractive and missing deceased wife. Rye does her best to curb her attraction to Ash and gets thrown through some hoops with the hot/cold behavior of Ash. When the two are together with the walls down, they are absolutely wonderful! They have great chemistry and amazing steamy scenes!
The story is so much more than the title and the characters were wonderful. It's a wonderful series starter and I look forward to getting to know the rest of the Hawthorn clan!
The book contains topics of loss of a spouse (with some discussion on page), loss of a parent, age gap romance, swearing, and steamy scenes.

I enjoyed the narrators! I haven't heard them narrate before and they did a good job. Each helped bring the characters to life! It is narrated in dual POV with the male narrator narrating all the voices and vice versa for the female narrator.

Amazing story with wonderful narration

I read this book months ago and enjoyed it so much, when I had the opportunity to listen to it, I jumped to revisit Ash and Rye and their interactions. I just love this author’s work. The characters are so real to me.

Rye has just moved home and is planning her father’s wedding. Her dad’s best friend Ash is helping with the leg work. He is unaware Rye has had a crush on him for years, but is so attracted to her.

They give in to their attraction for one wild night, then try to forget it happened…until Rye finds out she’s pregnant….

I Enjoyed It

I enjoyed this book. This is my first from this author. I loved getting to know the Hawthorn family- and they felt like exactly that- a family. I liked the characters. For Ash, this isn't only about his powerful attraction to his best friend's daughter- whom he hasn't seen in years. It's also about coping with the grief of losing his wife, and the guilt about possibly finding happiness and having a new life with someone else. I didn't like his response to the news of her pregnancy, though as the head of his family and planning a pregnancy, and keeping their relationship a secret from Rye's dad, he has a lot on his shoulders.

I listened to this audiobook narrated by Melissa Connell & Scott R. Smith. Melissa's voice was good for Rye and suited her character. I loved Scott R. Smith's voice. There was something about his tone that was very pleasant to me. It actually wasn't until I looked for more books he narrated that I realized he narrated an audiobook that I loved last year enough that I purchased both it and it's sequel (and still have to listen to).

Wonderful Performance

This audiobook flowed really well, especially with such great voices for Ash and Rye. Her old crush and his proximity led to a hot and heavy night together. This story and the syntax used proper moments used in each chapter was well performed. I really enjoyed relaxing and listening to this audio.

Ryes and Ash

Ryes has been tasked to work with Ash, to plan her father’s wedding. Close proximity, and chemical attraction happens. The only problem is, Ash is 17 years older, and her father’s best friend. At times, Ash seems to be more emotionally immature than Ryes despite their ages and life experiences. Oops happens, and baby Ivy is on the way. In the end they have a HEA. The story is sweet. The narration was well done. I received a free copy of this audiobook and am voluntarily leaving my review.

Baby for Daddy's Best Friend!

I really loved this story! It is a daddy's best friend, age gap and surprise pregnancy with some fun and entertaining aspects. Ash and Rye are combustible together with a solid connection. Ash is her father's long time best friend. Rye has moved from Madison, WI to come home to Chicago, IL to help her father and his fiancé, Giselle, plan their wedding. The one aspect she did not anticipate was they would enlist his best friend, Ash, to help with the wedding plans. Ash is her long time crush, the one man no other man can ever compare to. This is such a fun read with some emotional aspects. I enjoyed how the story develops and the relationship grows. I love both families but the Hawthorne men have stolen my heart. What a crew of men?

Love or Remorse ? . . .

Rye’s father Clay Linden is getting married to Giselle and has asked his daughter to plan the wedding for them. She is happy to do that, but surprised when her dad asked his best friend, Ash, to assist her! She has had a crush on Ash since she was 16 years old! Will she be able to work that closely with him?

Ash has been single for many years now since he lost his wife. He has three grown sons and he is uninterested in dating. But he agrees to help his best friend’s daughter with the wedding plans. When he meets the grown-up 29-year-old Rye, he feels an immediate attraction. Working closely together, it is inevitable that their feelings get stronger. So in a moment of weakness, maybe too much to drink, they spend a night together and enjoy themselves all night long. Aside from the guilt he feels for doing such a thing with his best friend’s daughter, she ends up pregnant. Is he so burdened with guilt over what they did that he won’t step up and accept their love? How will Rye’s father and new mom react? Will Rye and Ash claim their HEA? Or will refusal to let go of the past and move into his new future tear them apart? You will find the “reading” experience is made even better by the skillful narrators of the audiobook version, Melissa Connell and Scott R. Smith. They do a great job with the voices to personalize the story and make it easy for the listener to get an accurate impression of what each character is like. It helps to set the mood, familiarize us with the characters, and offers a pleasant way to “read” and enjoy the book.

love me a good age-gap story!!

This age gap trope is one of my all time favorites! I really appreciated that Rye was 29 and not in her early 20's. She's had the chance to mature and experience life to an extent, so she is aware of what she is looking for and what she wants...ASH!!

I completely understood Ash's perspective throughout the book too. (Refreshing when characters feelings and emotional reactions are consistent with reality.) After all, Rye is his BF's daughter, and he saw her grow up. Wouldn't you think twice about getting physical with someone under those circumstances, I mean really?! She did kinda over-react at his regret, afterall, she had hardly bared her sole about her feelings.

The secondary characters took this book to another level of enjoyment for me. Those boys (and the granddaughter) were fabulous! The narration too was top notch. Melissa Connell and Scott R. Smith brought life to Callie's words and I was encapsulated in their world, even if for just a little while.

Despite the barriers in their way (most self-imposed), would Ash & Rye find their way to a HEA? There's only one way for you to find out.

I thoroughly enjoyed listening to the advanced copy I received, and definately recommend this book (and author) without reservation. Happy Reading/Listening Y'all 📚
