Mack had a crap ton of baggage, and I think she'd have benefited from intense therapy before taking on bdsm. That said, the two main characters seemed to have a connection and insta attraction from the start that got stronger as the trust factor increased. I enjoyed it. I voluntarily listened to a free copy of this and am giving an honest review. The narrator did a good job bringing it to life.

While this story is centered around the BDSM lifestyle, it is so very much more. Mackenzie Malone has been let down by every man she has ever been involved with. She has been abused, taken advantage of, betrayed and made to feel undeserving, worthless and useless. She has a lot of, well lets just say unresolved anger. Sebastian DeLuca is a good man, a former marine, the owner of a martial arts dojang and a sexual dominant. He can also on occasion come across as the south end of a north bound mule. When the stars align to unite these two, it’s pure magic and so worthy of a listen. Beautifully written and narrated, this one has all the feels, humor, a bit of angst, tears and heart soaring joy. I absolutely loved it!

I really enjoyed the interaction between Sesbastian and Mackenzie - they had a true connection in martial arts and romance. I love when I listen to a book by one narrator but I can see both male & female characters clearly, Jeffrey Holz did a great job with this. I liked that it was set in NYC because it made some of the settings very real to me (I used to work there). Overall very good story line and narration. I would definitely follow this if it became a series.

A lot of BDSM stories concentrate heavily on the kinky sex. I liked that Sebastian and Mackenzie had good backgrounds and you can actually tell they cared for each other.

I would’ve like an epilogue to find out more about how their relationship evolved, but it was all still sweet with just enough heat
