Publisher's summary

An alpha knows the scent of his mate.

I thought I could defy the most powerful mafia boss in the city, but as Lawson Clearwater rips off my nightgown and pins me to the bed I'm certain he can smell more than just my fear.

This beast isn't just here to punish me. He's here to mount me, rut me, and mark me as his.

Forever.

Publisher's Note: Alpha King includes spankings, rough, intense sexual scenes, and strong D/s themes. If such material offends you, please don't buy this book.

Good storyline

I loved the storyline however if there is going to be a man and a woman narraters they should be a duet. I did NOT enjoy when the female performed the male voice if turned me OFF and same as with the male performed the female voice. Other than that it's a good book.

Alpha King

This book's title really does fit it. A bit too much on the "alpha" thing. The writing seemed slightly rushed but it was a decent listen.

Alpha King

Lawson frees Ava from the vampires when he is rescuing his pack members. He finds out she has weapons she can use against the vampires and his pack, which she demonstrates during the breakout. Lawson wants those weapons. Also, as soon as he sees her, he knows she is his mate and sets out to seduce her into submission in terrible ways. Initially, to me, Lawson was not likeable but he grew on me. By the end of the book, I liked him although he was still much too dominant. Dahlia Lynde and Duncan Cole did a great job with the narration. I received this free copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

Too much time…

Spent on detailed description of punishing D/s sex rather than the issues with other clans. It was too excessive; I normally have a high threshold for listening to kink but this was over the top. The narrators did a good job with characters.

I had high hopes but nope

As a longtime fan of PNR, the beginning of the book roped me in quickly. Shifters breaking out another shifter out of vampire prison, monsters running the city like rival mafia families and a human that knows too much and is very kick ass. Very interesting set up but then like Lora Leigh shifter books, it became more "rape fantasy" erotica.
It's too bad because it had a great premise but here comes the alpha male that can control any woman with what is between his legs and the woman will melt under his prowess. Gimme a break!

Could have been so much better.

Female narrator killed it for me🫤 male narrator not much better. They made the Uber hot sex scenes robotic and boring. I have over 817 audiobooks and this one is now sitting at the bottom 10.

Terrible writing

Poor writing and annoying narration. Story concept is ok, but I couldn't make it past the poor word choices. Sounds like it was written by a teenager.

Just Terrible

Not even sure where to start. I never purchase a book without finishing and this one was less than I pay for a credit so I purchased it outright. Terrible mistake. The narration (especially the female) was horrendous!! There doesn’t seem to be any real story in there. I completely wasted my money because I just can’t take it anymore and won’t finish this book (term used very loosely).

rape is not sexy... dnf

the premise is great, the intro to the characters amazing. Then it gets rapey, forced submission, brainwashing, long inner monolague by the one amazingly capable and sauce female leaf about why she can't wait to be raped, how the pain makes it feel good.

I can take some darkness, but this level is just lies, couldn't finish

Uncomfortably Erotic. Content Warnings Needed.

This book was like a train wreck. A large part of me wanted to stop listening to it, but the other part of me just couldn't. I love fantasy, erotic books, all of that. And I know there's an adult content warning for this book, but I feel like better warnings need to be given before the book begins. The book itself has a story line that's interesting enough to keep your attention and make you want to keep listening to it, but it's very rapey/sexual molestation in the beginning. Which seems to turn into Stockholm Syndrome. So while the book is definitely interesting enough to keep you listening, it could also be very triggering for some readers that don't go into fully prepared for its contents. I have no problem reading or listening to very sexual books, but even I was uncomfortable during parts of this book. It's a good enough listen, but definitely go into it understanding what you're getting into. Plus the narrators were also kind of just, eh. Overall, not something I'd really recommend to people.
