Storm was the perfect rising rock star character! Down to earth, lovable, caring and didn't play games.
After listening and falling i..Show More »n love with Torn by Carian Cole, I knew I had to go back and start the Ashes and Embers series, and WOW the first book was A W E S O M E ! I can't believe I waited so long to start this series! Cole has a unique way of bringing two characters together. It's not your typical two hurt characters resisting the pull and chemistry between them but rather the story of a character who's in a relationship but falls hard for another who ignites repressed passion and desires. Not knowing each other, these two characters are stranded and forced to be together while they wait out the worst of the blizzard in the back of a truck. They are open, honest, and not trying to impress each other. As they survive and work together, a bond is form along with a spark of chemistry.
The narration was outstanding! I've listened to CJ Bloom before, and enjoyed her performances. She is such an animated narrator who knows how to bring the written words to life. My only constructive criticism would be trying to distinguish between the character's mental internal dialogue and the characters spoken dialogue. Sometimes it was obvious, but Bloom does such a good job at animating all the dialogue, I found myself asking did the character just think that or speak that. This is just a minor observation, and did not impact the rating. I've listened to well over 600 audiobooks and know there is no perfect narrator.
All the positive reviews are spot on. I LOVED Storm (both the story and character)! Well worth the time, and definitely worth a credit. Another amazing author to follow!
I read Storm and Lukas and was very reluctant to listen to Vandal because of all the dark reviews. I'm glad I finally listened to Vandal, however I'm ..Show More »not a fan of BDSM so I won't read it again. Many heartfelt moments. Worth the credit? yes master. lol
It's rare to find a series where we get a tasteful story about an older women and a younger man; usually it's the other way around. Way to go Cole! I ..Show More »loved it! I think my heart stopped when Ivy realized her husband was leaving her for a younger women.
Nelson Hobbs and Tatiana Sokolov's performance was Stellar! They had me hanging on to every word, and I could feel the emotions Ivy went through! Kudos!
All I can do is ditto all the positive reviews on this one! Awesome story, well worth the time and credit! Enjoyed every minute.
I read the series and am now making my way through the audible performances. I really enjoyed this unusual aspect of this story. The H/h marry without..Show More » knowing each other. Their relationship takes a journey that is sometimes humorous, angst ridden and ultimately has you cheering for their happily ever after. Talon is a flawed, but caring husband Asia (I spelled it wrong I know) is dying to be loved but has trust issues. Their journey to love is a fun listen and I think most people would enjoy this light hearted banter!
