Storm was the perfect rising rock star character! Down to earth, lovable, caring and didn't play games.
After listening and falling i..Show More »n love with Torn by Carian Cole, I knew I had to go back and start the Ashes and Embers series, and WOW the first book was A W E S O M E ! I can't believe I waited so long to start this series! Cole has a unique way of bringing two characters together. It's not your typical two hurt characters resisting the pull and chemistry between them but rather the story of a character who's in a relationship but falls hard for another who ignites repressed passion and desires. Not knowing each other, these two characters are stranded and forced to be together while they wait out the worst of the blizzard in the back of a truck. They are open, honest, and not trying to impress each other. As they survive and work together, a bond is form along with a spark of chemistry.
The narration was outstanding! I've listened to CJ Bloom before, and enjoyed her performances. She is such an animated narrator who knows how to bring the written words to life. My only constructive criticism would be trying to distinguish between the character's mental internal dialogue and the characters spoken dialogue. Sometimes it was obvious, but Bloom does such a good job at animating all the dialogue, I found myself asking did the character just think that or speak that. This is just a minor observation, and did not impact the rating. I've listened to well over 600 audiobooks and know there is no perfect narrator.
All the positive reviews are spot on. I LOVED Storm (both the story and character)! Well worth the time, and definitely worth a credit. Another amazing author to follow!
Cole delivered another emotionally charged story about two characters coming together after a horrible tragedy. It was dark, raw, full of so many emot..Show More »ions and had light BDSM. The emotions the characters experienced felt genuine and it broke my heart listening to the characters dealing and coping with the aftermath of the tragedy that left both the H/h broken, and emotionally distraught. I'm not a fan of BDSM stories, but Cole did a great job writing this plot. Vandal's insecurities about his childhood, and parents not wanting him is reflected by his need to control and dominate through a D/s lifestyle. While some of the sex scenes were hot, I felt the chemistry between them was lacking. Of course, they needed and wanted each other but this was driven by their need to fix and control. Regardless, it's a great story full of emotions and an awesome addition to the series!
Loved the narration! Joe Arden and Maxine Mitchell always deliver an amazing performance.
It's rare to find a series where we get a tasteful story about an older women and a younger man; usually it's the other way around. Way to go Cole! I ..Show More »loved it! I think my heart stopped when Ivy realized her husband was leaving her for a younger women.
Nelson Hobbs and Tatiana Sokolov's performance was Stellar! They had me hanging on to every word, and I could feel the emotions Ivy went through! Kudos!
All I can do is ditto all the positive reviews on this one! Awesome story, well worth the time and credit! Enjoyed every minute.
All I can do is ditto all the other positive reviews. I liked Talon because he was a happy confident person w..Show More »ho wasn't broken or scared which was a refreshing change. I loved his teasing personality. The only negative for me was, this story's plot wasn't as captivating or as intense as Storm's, Vandal's or Lukas's story but was still well worth the time and credit. Can't want to see what Carian Cole brings to audio next! ….
