This was a ridiculously funny story, with so many parodies, like the foul mouth Angel named Ophra, a vampire named Paris Hilton, a fairy who acted lik..Show More »e the Terminator but had questionable fashion sense, and other well know characters.
After Astrid is turned into a vampire, she receives training from her "guardian" angel and the bu-- kicking fairy and with all this divine intervention, she soon becomes one of the most powerful vampires. But when she meets Ethan, WOW the sparks fly! He was hot, sexy, charming and the attractions between them was instant and steamy.
I had fun listening to this story, it reminded of a good parody movie and had me laughing out loud. The attraction between Ethan and Astrid was steamy but funny as well.
Jessica Almasy performance was awesome and I thought she did a great job portraying Astrid's personality. Each character had their own voice, and she used the right amount of inflection throughout the story. Astrid and Ethan were my favorite characters.
The story does end on a cliffhanger but I didn't mind because I had already planned on getting book 2.
Down Under is an adventure full of new characters that are crazy, sexy, insane, and hilarious! And OH MY, the sex, and banter between Astrid and Ethan..Show More » was HOT! Who knew a trip to hell could be so funny!
Jessica Almasy's performance rocked! She captures Astrid's personality and voice perfectly and Ethan's voice.....sexy! Well done!
I never thought I would fall in love with a story that was so "out there" and "insanely funny" but I did. However, some may be turned off by the langue but I'm not easily offended. I feel this story deserves all five stars ~ Great Story, Spot on Performance and just Awesome All Around.
If you love stories on the fun side with snarky, sassy, sexy characters that are over the top, and an unusual plot, this story will not disappoint. It was worth a credit, and the time you will spend laughing will be worth it!
I think Robyn Peterman is a very talented author whose stories are creative, and laugh out loud funny, and I've really enjoyed "The Hot Damned"..Show More »; series. However, there are some differences from the first two stories in the series, which isn't necessarily bad.... just different.
This is Dixie's story, and while it has some of the characters from the first two books, "Hell on Heels" could actually be a stand alone story. Dixie is younger, 21 years old, so the story is more of a YA PNR. There are some "steamy scenes" and two smoking hot angel brothers, the angel of light, and angel of death, but with school and the Angel, Demon dance, it does have a YA feel. The biggest difference is the change of narrators. This story is told from Dixie's POV, so it makes sense for her to have her own voice and Amanda Ronconi is a very good narrator.
While my review is based on this story being more of a YA PNR, the story was fun to listen to, and full of wacky characters, who were snarky, sassy, and sexy. There's also plenty of drama, suspense, and some steamy sex scenes.
I look forward to the next book in the series "Fashionably Dead in Diapers" and hope there will be an audiobook for Heathcliff's story "Fashionably Hotter Than Hell." It would be awesome if his story could be narrated by male.... maybe Phil Gigante, Ryan West or some one with a really sexy voice.
Great story for PNR fans, and well worth the time spent listening to the story.
Fashionably Dead in Diapers is another great additional to the Hot Damned series. It's insanely funny, sexy as sin, and never a dull moment.
..Show More »>Robyn Peterman has made it an art in creating funny, sassy, colorful phrases that will have you laughing out loud and with Jessica Almasy's flawless performance, she animates them superbly.
Astrid and Ethan are one of the funnies couples. They have their hands full with their new baby, Samuel, who is growing at an alarming rate, and has lots of powers and can animate inanimate objects like couches and chairs.... that's recipe for disaster. When they finally get some "alone time," their role playing fantasies will have you laughing out loud; however, when Samuel is kidnaped and Astrid losses her memory, things get really bad.
I have really enjoyed listening to this series, but be warned, if you do not like bad language, this story is full of justified bad language. Definitely worth the credit and time invested in listening to the story.
I never buy the short books in a series. Usually cost doesn't justify a 2 hour audio book. I too a chance on this one and am very glad I purchased i..Show More »t. It it hilarious just like her others in this series. This series is right up there with my other favorite groups of series by Molly Harper.
I just love Robyn Peterman's books. This story is about Heathcliff and Raquel. They are mates but they Raquel has been avoiding joining with Heathc..Show More »liff because she has a secret(or a curse). After all this time and the secret comes out, they finally get together as mates. But that is not the end of the story. Now they have to find out who placed the curse on her. Then Juliette tries to kill her and gets captured. But that is not the end of it either. Then some of the royal family goes missing and more curses. Will all this work its self out? Keep listening/reading to the end. There is appearance by angels, Satan himself, Vald the impaler or Dracula as he hates to be called. Full of action. I recommend this book and all others in this series. My next thing to speak about is the narrator. This is book number 6 and i have not read books 2, 3, 4 and 5. You ask why i skipped to no 6? I have seen so many reviews putting the narrator down and stating the author should not have changed narrators in the middle of the series. I spoke to a friend of mine who said the narrator was great. But because of the bad reviews about the narrator, i had to see for myself. I loved him. He was fantastic. I personally like him better than the narrator from book 1. I have put off listening because of the narrator in the first book. I did not like the voice for Astrid. But this narrator is great!!!!. I am sorry people feel that he did not do a great job. I will go back and listen to the other books because Robyn is a great author but wish Victor was reading them. He is great.
Another snarky, witty, ridiculously funny addition to the Hot Damned series! Astrid and Ethan are one of the funniest couples, with lot's of sizzling ..Show More »chemistry and love. They crack me up with Astrid's colorful vocabulary and Ethan's willingness to play along with Astrid's sexy but hilarious games.
Jessica has really out done herself with this performance! She flawlessly delivers on all the characters, demons, angels, and vampires! Her performance really made this story entertaining and AWESOME! I loved both the story and performance!
Oh Robyn, I hope you don't keep us waiting long for the next addition to the series! I'm so looking forward to more Astrid, Ethan and Samuel.
