I would recommend this book to a friend, as I would with all BJ novels. However, I would suggest that you read the book before listening to the audio ..Show More »book. I think you could get the wrong impression of how great a writer Ms BJ is if you only listen to this performance.
Let me start off by saying I am a fan of several of Beverly Jenkins books. I LOVE forbidden as well as destiny surrender. With that being said. The..Show More » lead female in the story goes from extraordinary to another generic strong-willed bold personality female. What happened to the revolution? what happened to her wanting to make a difference be a change? what happened to Cuba? what I am appalled, angry, and disgusted with the family over is the ending of the book, and the treatment of Noah Yates as a victim of rape. I do not think the writer understand severity of broken trust between spouses when the wife shared such an intimate violation of her husband with his family. I do not feel that the husband should have been the only one apologizing when does treatment and misunderstanding. He was not a alpha male nor that he appear to represent the domineering personality of an alpha male. She had more compassion for the perpetrator that placed her husband in this scenario vs her husband. that killed and murdered my book reading experience. I can go on and on about this however that may be a personal blog post. Otherwise a great book.
