Narration - Ian Gordon - He has a lovely narration voice with a British accent. Good storyteller, my only question is what accents did "American's..Show More »" have during the civil war? Did Americans's still speak with their native accents? When did we lose all the British, Irish, Scottish, German etc... and develop the Southern Twang? Just a thought...I honestly am curious. ANYWAY, back to the review...he's a pretty good narrator. Pretty believable females, nice, smooth narrative style.
The story was a clean romance, with our heroine being left behind to run the farm while her brother goes off to war. There's a wealthy neighbor who could solve all their money problems, but she's just not feeling him.
Along comes Jasper - a soldier who approaches the girls to beg for food, and even though Clara runs him off, she can't stop thinking about him. So, you pretty much know where this is going.
The story was a bit predictable, but the narration is enjoyable enough that it was a nice listen.
