Carter Reed told Emma that he would declare war for her, how do you resist a man like that. I know I couldn’t. I absolutely adored this book. I’m not ..Show More »usually the romance thriller type of reader but I’m so glad that I decided to step out of my genre and give this book a try. Emma makes a quick decision in the blink of an eye to save her roommate that was being raped by her boyfriend, kill him. Afterwards, there is only one person she knows who can now protect her and her roommate for the mob that will shortly come looking for her and his name is Carter Reed. Carter Reed has earned a reputation as the cold killer and it is truly well earned. He is lethal and ruthless. He will kill to keep safe the things he values and loves and Carter Reed has loved Emma her entire life.
I was captivated by this book from the first sentence. Seriously, after Emma kills the boyfriend I was literally glued to this audio. Carter is cold, ruthless and vicious but with Emma everything is different. Emma sees a side of him that no one has ever witnessed before and Emma realizes that he is both the cold killer and her passionate lover. Emma is strong and loyal. It is some moments in the book that Emma makes stupid decisions and you have to think, what in the hell are you thinking. But for the most part, it’s an unbelievable ride. SO GOOD.
Is this book worth a credit, umm you better believe it. Buy this book, sit back and enjoy a fun, sexy, unbelievable ride.
The pulse-pounding action continues as Carter gives up his Mafia interests and hands it all over to his friend/Mafia son Cole despite being begged to ..Show More »take over as Boss. But he can't yet walk away because someone is still after Emma and repeatedly tries to kill her.. and they come very very close to succeeding. This sends Carter into a protective frenzy as he tries to second-guess, outwit and destroy any and all threats against the love of his life. Emma comes face to face with her long lost sister and that stirs up dark memories and there's unexpected answers too but unfortunately her sister is about to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.
I've loved these two listens - this is equally as riveting, addictive and pulse-pounding as book 1 and this time there's a few more Chapters from Carter's POV. Both narrators did a great job at bringing all the characters and action to life.
Worth a credit? Yes.. and I'm eagerly anticipating Cole's story.
