Although I am beginning to sound like a broken record, Julia Whelan is magnificent. I actually found this book by looking for works narrated by her. With Whelan behind the microphone this story comes to life flowing along with just the right amount of suspense and action. This is NOT a typical 'girl loses memory' tale at all. The twists and turns are deliciously sweet and kept me guessing all along. An author who builds lives, builds feeling and emotion, and who evokes empathy in readers automatically moves to the top of my list of authors to search for again next time I am looking for a new series.

Her writing is focused, rich with detail, and the story line ranks this book as one of the best books I have listened to with regard to a beautiful blend of engaging plot and characters that made me laugh, made me hate them, and made me ponder what I would do in similar situations.

As well, this tale is about how consumers come to covet products and services without even questioning the safety of what is being bought and the motivations of the makers of products. In this case the product happens to be genetic enhancements but it is possible to substitute any service or product on the market today for the Sci fi tech described in this tale. Brody's writing style complements Julia Whelan's narrative skills to build a series full of realistic characters facing difficult choices. Whelan masters the heartless and manipulative villain as well as the innocent and passionate heroine who has her mind wiped again and again. Together these 3 books challenge readers to consider what parts of humanity are worth preserving and what parts are worth fighting against.
