The original book was a splendid, fun, suspenseful read with an amazing female lead. This was even better as audio! Justine Eyre is perfect voice ..Show More »for the exotic deadly Eden. This is BC Showalter (before she got born again), so its fun, exciting and passionate, without being too lora leigh. This is a loosely related book to the alien huntress series which is fun, delightful with wickedly deadly femme fatales and fun mockery of various stereotypes. Lucius is the link with the series if I remember correctly, but you definitely won't miss anything by treating yourself to this first. A key character for other books later in the series makes an entrance in this book and it is such a testimony to Showalter's originality and skill that she can make a guy who "collects" women at slave auctions on other planets turn out to be such a charmer here and hero later on! Get the paper backs of the series until more come out on audio. I rate them up there with the night huntress series and Lora Adrians Breed series. Only a little lighter and more fun :) happy reading all!
This was a enjoyable listen but it seemed a little drawn out. At times I wanted things to just "get on past this". I would say this would make an exce..Show More »llent $4.95 sale book. Save your credit for a better reviewed book.
What a great team - Gena Showalta's awesome, futuristic and well-written paranormal series continues and is flawlessly narrated by Justine Eyre so tog..Show More »ether they deliver a book that you can mentally picture the scene by scene action as it smoothly unfolds.
Earth sometime in the future is where we find Aleaha (who can shape-shift into anyone she's been in contact with) and the fellow members of AIR (Alien Intelligence & Retrieval) team as they get ready to enter a battle with deadly Aliens that are about to land but instead a different race turn up. The Rakans are golden skin coloured peaceful Aliens who just want to find a new home because their planet's been destroyed but when they encounter the gun wielding AIR team they are forced to let their 'special abilities' kick in. Handsome Breean is their sexy, charismatic and seductive Commander who emits a lust perfume but it has little effect on Aleaha which is devastating to Breean as he desperately wants her to be his so sets out to seduce her but first he has to capture the whole AIR team.... but things go from bad to worse.
There's great world-building details, loveable characters, a super-sexy vulnerable tender hearted Alpha hero and a strong heroine who have great chemistry and a mutual sensual desire and longing, plenty of action, twists, surprises, passion, sex and a sweet and sensitive love story.
Worth a credit? As with all of the Gena Showalter books I've listened to, there's no point in trying to guess the plot or the outcome, you just have to sit back, put your feet up and enjoy the paranormal journey she skilfully takes you on - so YES, IMHO, very credit-worthy.
We all know just how good Gena Showalter's world-building skills are and how she can deliver a fantastical multi-layered plot with various weird and w..Show More »onderful species and humans all sharing the same world. But what she REALLY excels at is giving us handsome, ripped Alpha Heroes who need to be tamed and claimed and, in the end, we can't help but fall hopelessly in love with each and every one of them.... and McKell in one such Hero.
He is a ruthless, arrogant, vicious, intense and a dangerous Alpha Vampire Warrior who can literally stop time and does so with ease. A.I.R. has previously sent their best Agents to get him but they have all lost fingers trying and he happily wears their bones as a necklace. This time they send a couple of Agents in training best friends Noelle (rich) and Ava (poor but street smart) who are a hilarious comedy duo and they start teasing and taunting McKell but the laughs on them when he stops time and strips them.
There's instant sexual tension between feisty kick-ass Ava who breaks all the rules and McKell and when they agree to help each other's quests then they're constantly verbally sparring with each other. But when they realise she's his mate there's also friendship, companionship, tenderness, playful arguments and bitter-sweet quips as he tries to claim her in his own special superior way. But when events get serious he's loyal, passionate, possessive, volatile, gets jealous easily and is very very sexy and when everything go wrong with a plan to capture the Schon Queen he makes the ultimate heartbreaking sacrifice for Ava and ends up doing the impossible.
Worth a credit? Loveable H/H whose character development enabled them to love each other, an enjoyable action-packed plot, a full cast of secondary characters, a quirky romance, passion, sex, humor and plenty of lol moments but there's also painful, heartbreaking and tense drama filled chapters when things don't go to plan. If you're a fan of this awesome series then you know how funny, dramatic and sexy they are and you've probably already downloaded it but if not then it's definitely credit-worthy but, for under $10, I just bought it and saved my credit for a more costly listen. The funny antics, the humorous banter and the loveable characters will stay with you long after the book's finished.
