I would still recommend this book though as certain parts are integral in the rest of the series.

Nathan Scott makes you want to root for him, and every member of his crew that he loses you feel the pain with him. But Ryk doesn't just make you love Nathan and the crew, he makes you respect them as well. This series is starting to come into a realm of its own. It's no longer a Star Trek copy and is quickly becoming it's own tale.
Freedom's Dawn was a return to boring and a drag like the Rings of Haven was. It was Okay at the beginning, drags and makes you angry in the middle, ..Show More »and wins you over yet again at the end. One of the greatest endings which made the pain and anger completely worth it.
