This is not the first time I've looked over at my partner in the middle of a book and declared "This is Porn....", but this is probably the best time...Show More »
Usually books like this one, that are beginning to redefine both paranormal fantasy and the bodice ripper genre, are written so that I just want them to be over with so I can enjoy the good bits and stop cringing in between. Not true of this story!
There was enough interesting plot and non relationship tension to make this book a book I would have wanted to read even if it hadn't been for the INCREDIBLY steamy scenes between the two leads. There were also quite a few very funny lines and quips.
The only thing I didn't like about the book was that some of the secondary characters veered pretty far into "stick figures with a schtick" territory. Most of the time this was still fairly amusing, but sometimes I just really wanted them to shut up.
Jill Redfield did a great job of bringing across the main characters voice, and reading the steamier bits without distracting from what was going on. I always feel like the best narrators are the ones you don't notice, and so I guess she did a great job, because she only made the story better.
Overall, totally worth my credit, but I will not make the mistake of listening to any more of her books with my car windows down again! Hi Kids!
Once again, Ms. Wright had my laughing so hard at work; I got questioning looks from my co workers. This book is hilarious. Jamie doesn’t have as big ..Show More »of a potty mouth as Taryn but that doesn’t make her any less funny. I like Jamie’s strength and courage and her struggles throughout the book, and Dante, WOW!!! He makes me wish to be wolf-shifter.
I love Jill Redfield as a narrator. She always gives the performance that little extra. Such as when a line says the character laughed, she actually says the line laughing. It’s that little extra that makes her reading very enjoyable.
*****This might be a spoiler, but if you read the first book you should be expecting this. The funniest scene in the book was when Taryn went into labor. I literally cried, I was laughing so hard. Thank you Ms. Wright.
I really liked this one... Although...book 1 was hands down the best of the series so far...
This was way way better than book 2... I felt s..Show More »o sorry for Nick... and I am so glad Shyia didn't take a whole book to get over the fact that Nick didn't claim her... I am glad she left him, he totally deserved it, but she didn't take 3yrs to get over it... She eventually understood why Nick did what he did... It was a great addition to the Phoenix Pack Series...
I so want Dominic to have a book... I hope his true mate is Nick's sister..
Narration was great... I always enjoy listening to Jill Redfield...
I like these stories because there is a plot and action but they have a lot of steamy roman..Show More »ce. However, the other books in the series seemed to have more bad language during these scenes and the male characters had to be dominate. In this story, it was more balanced which has made this my favorite book in the series.
Loved it! Now I just have to wait for the next book!
Savage Urges is my fifth book in the Phoenix Pack series and I really enjoyed the book. Author Suzanne Wright had quite the great series going on here..Show More ». Her writing style just draws me in and her characters are just so top notch. She definitely has a something worth listening too here.
Oh my gosh, I just loved Makenna and Ryan. She’s strong, fiercely loyal, and just perfect for Ryan. Ryan, oh my. How can someone be so sexy while being broody! They both have some serious hurt in their pasts but instead of destroying them, it just makes them so much stronger. Mixing them together, her sassy quirkiness and his my face may break if I show emotions, had my alternating between laughing and sighing. As good as the sex is between them, and it was REALLY good, it was their more personal moments that got my heart all aflutter. It’s not all smooth sailing for them. He’s convince she’s his mate and she doesn’t want to get hurt again, another pack tries to take over the shelter Makenna works out, missing relatives, lost loners, and so much more. Throw it all together it makes for a very hard to put down entertaining listen that ends in the best HEA.
And now for a little PSA. I really need to commend the author on her representation of the lone shifters. Whether it was intended or not, loners were described similar to the way most people think homeless people are. Shifty, bad, evil, they are homeless/loners because they choose to be. Showing them as not all bad but more of victims of their circumstances whether it is abuse, abandonment or forced out. While this is not my first book containing loner shifters, it is the first where they are not some horrible destructive force. Thank you Ms. Wright!
Any PNR fan, especially for shifters, will enjoy listening to Savage Urges. I love both and I know I have. Just make sure, unless you plan to stay up all night, to not start listening to this book before bed. You may find yourself struggling to put it down. Yup, it’s that good. Can’t wait for the next book!
Jill Redfield is one of my favourite narrators and she was outstanding with the delivery of the story
