This Audible book has been ruined for me by the narrator, Cristofer Jean. His style of pausing and the voice he uses for all male characters makes it ..Show More »impossible to listen to the story. I'll have to pick this book up as a hard copy from the library as listening to it is painful.
I'm a big fan of Brent Weeks though and would highly recommend his Night Angel Trilogy though I can't speak for the narration of the Audible version as I haven't listened to it.
Audible was very understanding and had no problem with me returning the book, as always their customer service was great!
The Broken Eye is absolutely awesome. Andross' manipulations start coming to fruition, the white is combating those manipulations, Gavin Guile is hel..Show More »d prisoner and believed dead by many, Teia has become a spy, and Kip is making deals with his grandfather. Simon Vance does a great job with the narration making The Broken Eye by Brent Weeks more awesome, if that is even possible.
It took a chapter or three to get into the book. Once I realized the plot was not only about Kip but the entire family I had a hard time turning it..Show More » off. The characters were complex. Devious, tough and malevolent loyal, caring and uncertain. No one character was all good or all bad, so I was surprised with a few outcomes. The magic was never simple, it was involved, consequently I did not miss a word. Simon Vance is one of my favorite narrators, so I'm accustomed to his voice and he did not disappoint. There were a few laughable moments but for the most part this story was gritty, violent and very interesting.
