STORY (thriller) - Becoming Quinn is Book 4.1 in this series, but it should be Book 1. It explains the story of how Jake, a young cop, is motivated t..Show More »o change careers and become a cleaner -- the guy that gets rid of bodies and makes the scene of "an elimination" appear as if nothing ever happened. I stumbled on Book 5 in this series in a sale (The Destroyed) and absolutely loved it, so I decided to start the series from the beginning.
The story starts quickly and is exciting till the very end. There's plenty of detective work, action and great character development of young Jake, who by the end of the book has become Quinn the cleaner. The book can stand alone, but you won't be able to resist continuing the series to see how he handles his first assignment.
PERFORMANCE - Scott Brick is wonderful in this book. It's not that he does any foreign accents or multi-character differentiation, but just the way he reads...
OVERALL - I would highly recommend this for any adult who enjoys good thrillers. There is killing and "cleaning" but the book isn't overly violent and not at all gory. There is no sex, and I don't remember any cursing. Start with this book before you continue on with the series.
This book is excellent from start to finish. You will not want to break from the non-stop action. Its one the best book I've bought from Audible since..Show More » I started this service 30 months ago.
This is the third novel in the Jonathan Quinn series by Brett Battles. Although it is excellent it is not quite as good as the first two novels or se..Show More »veral of the later novels in the series. Yet it is a great listen.
Story - The Destroyed is an awesome espionage thriller. It is good from the first sentence, and the suspense and action never let up. There are no d..Show More »ull spots, no filler stuff, just great story from beginning to end. The book is not confusing or hard to follow, but you will need to pay close attention. There are lots of players and it alternates between two timelines that you will have to keep straight. There is violence and killing, but that is not the main thrust of the story.
This is Book 5 of the Jonathan Quinn series, but it's my first. I'm sure I missed out on some background information and history, but this story stands alone perfectly and the ending ties up everything nicely.
Narrator - I know Scott Brick is a favorite of Audible listeneres, and now I can understand why. He does a great job (and has a pretty sexy voice, too), but I withhold my 5's for great jobs done on more difficult performances.
Overall - Get this book. You will not be disppointed.
I really did not enjoy the last book The Collectors, I missed the in-control, cool under pressure Quinn. He is back in this book. As usual Battles d..Show More »elivers a number of surprises in his plot - I liked them especially since some are very different than the usual in spy novels. If you have enjoyed the Quinn series you will like this one.
Yes. This was soooo good. I didn't think Brett Battles could top The ENRAGED but I think he has at least written it's equal. I've relistened to Allthe..Show More » others so will do the same with this one.
