As I quite liked the first book about Nathan McBride, I couldn't wait to get started on this one. I actually pushed back quite a lot of other books in..Show More » my reading list to get going.
Nathan is still damaged goods, and still a very, very interesting main character. You get even more insight into the guy in this book, and you get more of the story just hinted about in the first book.
You also get to know the other characters better...and you get to meet a few new interesting people...and one baaaaaaaaad baddie.
This thriller is rather intense, so if you have a weak stomach this might not be for you. Tales of torture and sadism has a centre stage in this one...
If you like thrillers, the books about Nathan McBride should certainly occupy a place on your shelfs...recommended.
Based on the first review of this book, I purchased it to see if the review was accurate. I'm familiar with this author and found it difficult to beli..Show More »eve he'd create an unlikable character. My instincts were correct.
Lauren is a twelve-year-old girl who's been kidnapped. Despite being stressed to the breaking point, she's poised and collected. She's not whiney at all, just the opposite. Sure, she's uneasy from her situation (who wouldn't be?) and has to trust a complete stranger (Nathan) but I think she's charming, intelligent, and capable. Part of the the intrigue, is how Nathan and Lauren must learn to trust each other and I think Mr.Peterson did a masterful job developing their relationship!
OPTION TO KILL is a departure for this author and I admire how he's avoided being formulaic with his story telling. We never leave Nathan's perspective in OPTION so the listener unravels the story alongside Nathan.
It's a fast-paced adventure that also reveals a deeper part if Nathan that I didn't know existed. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and I'm looking forward to more stories from Mr. Peterson. Keep up the great work! And Dick is simply amazing! This was a challenging project for him and I couldn't be happier with the result!
Andrew Peterson's excellent Nathan McBride espionage series will receive an addition, Right to Kill, on November 1. This series started strong with F..Show More »irst to Kill in 2009 and has continued to get even better with each addition. The first 4 books in the series are currently very low priced at Amazon using Whispersync for Voice (Kindle + Audible versions). Dick Hill narrates all of the novels in the Nathan McBride series.
Right to Kill is a really good fast paced espionage thriller. I won't restate the plot of this story but suffice to say that if you're looking for a b..Show More »ook that starts with a scene to put you on the edge of your seat and keeps the pace throughout, this is it. Although I've read them as they were written and there is carryover of characters from one book to the next, they can each be read/listened to as a stand alone. Andrew Peterson always gives pertinent background information (ie: Nathan's internal turmoil, Harvey's steadfast loyalty). This book ends a little different than the others, there's a message in here for those who want it.
Dick Hill narrates all of the Nathan McBride books and does an Excellent job. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. If you found this review helpful please indicate so. Thank You.
