I have not read a book this good in a while. Devereaux Sinclair has moved back to the small town she grew up in to help her grandmother who is sick. ..Show More » She gets pulled into a murder investigation when a gift basket she created is found at the murder scene. The story is realistic and fun. The characters are enjoyable. The dialogue is fun and witty. The mystery was solved at the end of the book by the author and not me. If I could give it 10 stars I would. The only thing I do not like is that I have to wait while for the next book in the series.
Why does every book have to have a love triangle? I really like Dev and Jake and don't want to have doubts about the relationship and like Noah! <..Show More »br/>This book puts Dev in the middle of another murder mystery, some girls have all the luck! This time she is looking to clear Boone when his client is murdered. So much intrigue!!
This time we get a split narrative between Dev and dishy Doc Noah. Dang it I did not want to like him!! But he is now winning brownie points with me! I still prefer sexy as all get out bad boy Jake!
Once again the steam is relegated to a few hot kisses. We never seem to get past making out. Sigh!
The mystery is once again really intriguing and not an easy solve. I love all the twists and turns! This is easily my new fave mystery series!! Wonderfully paced and not a dull moment to be found!
Once again Maia Guest does a superb job of narrating. I love her characterizations and she really makes the story sing!
Opening an old-fashioned five-and-dime shop in her small Missouri hometown has been a great change for Devereaux “Dev” Sinclair. But when she hosts a ..Show More »reading group there, she learns that bad writing can mean life or death.
To keep her new business in the black, Dev opens up her shop to local clubs. But in the first meeting of the Stepping Out Book Club, the speaker storms out after members attack his poetry’s sexism and scorn for small towns. Later that night, the poet’s body is found outside Dev’s store.
Dev can’t afford for the murder to close her down, so she does a little stepping out of her own to investigate, with help from her two sexy suitors, Dr. Noah Underwood and Deputy U.S. Marshal Jake Del Vecchio. But when the killer threatens Dev, they will have to use every trick in the book to solve the case before she becomes the final chapter in this murder mystery.…
This is my first visit to Dev's Dime Store, but not my last.
I found this is a fun and funny mystery, and has had me laughing. With a good set of characters, in a well plotted and written mystery, that will keep you listening right until the end.
The narrator Maia Guest, makes this audiobook an enjoyable and smooth listen.
I voluntarily giving an honest review on a audio copy of this book for the author.

Dev is an interesting character. However, I find love triangles as plot development annoying. This has dragged on too long. Dev needs to make a dec..Show More »ision and move on with her life. Other than that the book was ok.
