This is not the first time I've looked over at my partner in the middle of a book and declared "This is Porn....", but this is probably the best time...Show More »
Usually books like this one, that are beginning to redefine both paranormal fantasy and the bodice ripper genre, are written so that I just want them to be over with so I can enjoy the good bits and stop cringing in between. Not true of this story!
There was enough interesting plot and non relationship tension to make this book a book I would have wanted to read even if it hadn't been for the INCREDIBLY steamy scenes between the two leads. There were also quite a few very funny lines and quips.
The only thing I didn't like about the book was that some of the secondary characters veered pretty far into "stick figures with a schtick" territory. Most of the time this was still fairly amusing, but sometimes I just really wanted them to shut up.
Jill Redfield did a great job of bringing across the main characters voice, and reading the steamier bits without distracting from what was going on. I always feel like the best narrators are the ones you don't notice, and so I guess she did a great job, because she only made the story better.
Overall, totally worth my credit, but I will not make the mistake of listening to any more of her books with my car windows down again! Hi Kids!
Once again, Ms. Wright had my laughing so hard at work; I got questioning looks from my co workers. This book is hilarious. Jamie doesn’t have as big ..Show More »of a potty mouth as Taryn but that doesn’t make her any less funny. I like Jamie’s strength and courage and her struggles throughout the book, and Dante, WOW!!! He makes me wish to be wolf-shifter.
I love Jill Redfield as a narrator. She always gives the performance that little extra. Such as when a line says the character laughed, she actually says the line laughing. It’s that little extra that makes her reading very enjoyable.
*****This might be a spoiler, but if you read the first book you should be expecting this. The funniest scene in the book was when Taryn went into labor. I literally cried, I was laughing so hard. Thank you Ms. Wright.
I really liked this one... Although...book 1 was hands down the best of the series so far...
This was way way better than book 2... I felt s..Show More »o sorry for Nick... and I am so glad Shyia didn't take a whole book to get over the fact that Nick didn't claim her... I am glad she left him, he totally deserved it, but she didn't take 3yrs to get over it... She eventually understood why Nick did what he did... It was a great addition to the Phoenix Pack Series...
I so want Dominic to have a book... I hope his true mate is Nick's sister..
Narration was great... I always enjoy listening to Jill Redfield...
Another hot book by Suzanne Wright. The pages were steaming with this book. So if you are a fan of the series pick it up. I still love the first b..Show More »ook best, with the third my least favorite. I wish there was a little more action, but for a romance it is great. I love the characters in this book and can't wait for the next couple to have their book, I'm hoping it's Ryan's book. Since it has been awhile since I read the other books and I did need a bit to remember all the characters, but the one I forgot most was Roni (Nick's Sister from book 3) although it came back quickly. I got this book/audio for $5.98 total using the Whispersync feature. Narrator does an awesome job.
This series is great and never disappoints. Ryan, Mr. Serious, Phoenix pack enforcer is the one with cupid's arrow stuck in his fur this time around...Show More » He's not against finding his mate and doesn't fight it at all which is a nice change from his stubborn pack mates. However, his mate is a bit stubborn herself. Lots of obstacles to their happiness, including past baggage, a seriously slimy alpha, anti-shifter zealots and more. An excellent addition to the series.
Jill Redfield is one of the best female narrators out there. I love her male and female voices, and her narration amplifies the writing and brings it to life in a way words on a page just can't. She had a couple of extremely rare moments where her sentences faltered just a hair, but I think this is the first time I have ever heard her be less than perfect, so it just makes me happy to know she can have an off day just like the rest of us mere mortals. I always appreciate her ability to communicate the right emotions, whether they be humor, lust, desperation, suspicion, exasperation, nastiness or love, in a way that enhances the story and makes it better.
The heat factor is pretty hot, though this one seemed a slight bit tamer than the others. The series as a whole is a 9, but this book is around an 8 on a 1-10 scale of, "Is it hot in here?" Also, as always, books in this series are a great deal at under $10 each, so save the credits, and rejoice in the awesomeness that is a great price on a full-length novel with no cliffhanger. This entire series is an absolute must for any paranormal, shifter romance lover who doesn't have a problem with sizzling bedroom action involving seriously hot, controlling, alpha males with dirty minds, foul language and deliciously filthy actions.
I paid cash money for this audiobook, I'm glad I did, and I'm gonna do it again when the next one comes out! BTW, all my reviews are unbiased, whether I pay or get it free.
